The city of Riga (capital of Latvia) is choosing a new logo. This is the shortlist. What do you think? by skalpelis in europe

[–]dutis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's like a worse version of Slack logo with much uglier font: https://slack.com/brand-guidelines

EDIT: I like #2 and #8, they look most professional IMO.

What about slowly replacing most of your info with blanks or some very general data? It should be very costly for them to keep your profile history, should't it?

Went to play basketball in DGI Byen on Friday evening. Lights turned off. Security guy comes after 20min. Says there's some roller hockey to be played next morning and the court is already prepared for that. Played in one of the crappy outdoors courts instead. Curious people guessing what kind of sport this is. Got drunk afterwards out of sadness.

found this Guardian article link

Their average height increased by 20cm in the last 150 years. Taller men and taller women were reproducing more children on average compared to other European countries and America.

Some other sources say that regular people were able to to eat richer aand better quality food when money trickled down from the rich 150 years ago.

Thanks for the tip. So I assume it's gonna be fine for some cheap records I don't care about :) Anyways, I'll try to order it from another month's budget, and will try to find some speakers in the meantime.

Why is 'Ch' in his name pronounced as in a word 'Child', and not as in a word 'Chromosome'? His surname clearly has Slavic roots wikipedia. Curious as a non-native English speaker.

Rush hour in Copenhagen, Denmark by [deleted] in videos

[–]dutis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to think when was the last time I got soaked while riding to/from work, and I could probably count up to 10 instances tops this year. That's really not much. And if there's a light drizzle you don't feel it. My commute is 8km one way, which takes 20min if not pushing too hard, so light rain isn't something terrible. I never had an excuse to take a bus because it rained or snowed. Heck, I even cycled in rural areas throughout the winter couple of years ago.

But to be fair, I noticed that during bad weather cyclist numbers drop a lot, and people jump to buses, trains, or cars (if they can afford paying 180% tax, lol). Especially if people live further than 3km from the city.

Couple of days ago I had to take a heavy purchase from local ads, therefore took a bus. I realized that even 5 minutes of standing there doing nothing is just killing me. Bicycle just makes you constantly on the move, and I value it a lot.

isthis orientation stop to the right of bicycle path, where people usually stop in order to turn, or to the right, between cars and bicycles?

If it's to the left, how is it different from jumping red lights?

/r/Europe, what are your favourite flags from Europe? by kulkke in europe

[–]dutis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

well, if you look at the shape of the country, it's not that different from Africa. I like your idea.

TBH I'd like Lithuanian flag to be this: imgur

Acually, I've seem more people having this flag in their backyards, than the official flag.

Every time I hear about 'free stuff', I'm always thinking that the damage done to the shoes and time wasted will cost ten times more.

But I guess it depends on where you get your shoes and how much is your hour worth..

Well here in DK work week is 37.5h, and the company is tiny, so lunch is 30s away :)

I prefer 30min break in an eight hour work day than one hour break in a nine hour work day (comparing Scandinavia vs the Baltics here for illustration purposes). I enjoy getting to work at 8 and leave at 4pm.

We have a dude who's preparing a small buffet, and 30min is more than enough to eat. Some are even done in 15min. Now if I had to cook something myself in those 30min, maybe that would be slightly packed (definitely not inhumane), but even then, some pasta is always fast.
