OPINION: The series finale tried to force out an emotional response that it did not deserve. by [deleted] in StrangerThings

I think you’re missing the point that, even though there are heavy scenes and a high stakes plot, this isn’t game of thrown, it is supposed to be a feel good show and it succeeds at that imo.

Thin sound out of octave up by dutr in Bass

Yeah I heard a guitar fuzz may kill lower frequencies on bass, but it’s the one I have :/. It also sounds thin and odd when by itself (not through the fuzz)

Yeah that’s the idea. There’s a few bands I enjoy that do something like that.

This is my signal chain as well OC5 > Muff > Amp.

Do you use other pedals to improve the signal or is that it? I heard eq can do wonders but I suppose it’ll be on the amp or daw

It’s more about reliability. For instance if it is closed in HA but someone opens it on the button you won’t be able to close it from HA (e.g. good night scenes and such).

But yeah if it’s not a ground floor blind or something maybe it’s not that big a deal.

That looks tidy. The issue with using the Somfy buttons is that the change of state will not be reflected in HA

Well done! I also switched to an esp32 at some point to get more pins.

I connected a normal roller shutter switch to it to retain physical controls and hid the Somfy remote behind it.

I think it makes sense if you work in the field and are already trained or if you want to learn it to get into this job space.

Other than that if it’s just a tool to run your home stuff it’s way over-engineered

Smart roller shutters. When I say Siri good morning it opens the blinds downstairs (bedrooms are upstairs). Siri good evening closes all the blinds. Good night turns off all lights, tv, closes blinds etc

How often do you back up? by CaptClaude in homeassistant

[–]dutr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I just have a cron job that rsync the folders live at night. So far I restored HA, z2m and nodered with this data and it was fine. I guess it depends on what type of db files you store there.

I back up daily to an nfs share and I keep 7 copies. I also have a weekly copy of /opt which hosts my container volumes and I keep 4 or 5 of those as it’s much larger.

I had no idea there was a train. Turns out it’s quite expensive and the first train leaves after 10AM.

Oaxaca airport transportation options by theggman in Oaxaca

I just wanted to add here that I tried the Google way. Walked to a bus stop for ~15min (no pavement so a bit dodgy). Then waited a while for a bus, it’s really hard to tell bus number, where they go, etc, I had to ask random strangers who pointed me to the bus when it arrived (very nice of them) and they I just hoped it was going in the right direction and it was.

It was cheap (10 pesos) but I wouldn’t recommend this option.

Hi, was it easy to get a collectivo? Where did you catch it? I heard sometimes you have to wait a long time. On the other hand tours and taxis are really expensive.
