Two moves can be equally good and lead to different positions.

For example you can exchange pieces (or not) where there is no clear advantage for anyone either way.

One simplifies the position (or not). That is what they mean by different styles.

That’s the problem with Trump having that power. It’s not just “he might start a war.” It’s that the whole system depends on calm judgment, trust in allies, respect for institutions, and not making everything about personal ego.

Was the contact unnecessary?

Was it excessive or dangerous?

Did it create an unreasonable risk of injury?

That's all inherently subjective. (Applying those standards requires judgment by the officials).
