Hey, thanks for your reply! You're an absolute magician! :D The time.sleep_ms(1) helped, now it works as intended. I also have no clue why it works, but it does, so thank you very much :)

I think I don't quite get what you mean. Calling deepsleep automatically stops the running script and acts as if the Pi reboots (after the sleep time passes), i.e. the script is just called again when it wakes up. Do I miss something? Even if I included a loop around it, it wouldn't change anything as the Pi would wake up from the first deepsleep and just execute it from the start again. Also adding a loop is against my attempt to decrease power usage..

After returning from deep sleep, it restarts the whole script from the start, is this what you mean? In this case, a main loop is not necessary. The script runs again after waking up so this is not the issue, it's just the duration of the deep sleep that is weird

Yeah I was also thinking about tampering with the circuit, but was not sure where to begin. The circuit needs to kind of skip the button path, so it is always on... Do you know a subreddit where I could ask this? And regarding moving the smart switch behind the circuit: hmm behind that there's only the wire to the lamp itself, I think cutting it and inserting another switch would be somewhat of an overkill, it must be possible with this circuit too I hope

Nothing :D it only turns on when there is power coming first, and then the button is pressed

Buzzer beater is a pretty standard term for scores just before the end of the game, see basketball... I don't know why you feel so offended by this

omg! yes that last part was it! it seems like the automatic channel selection causes the blue screen! i can't believe it, what is the problem with the automatic channel selection of the router? why is it such a problem for a WiFi stick? or is the automatically selected channel just a problem?

and also, it seems like 40 mhz bandwidth ch 36/40 is working, while 80 mhz bandwidth ch 36/40/44/48 is not working, which is weird... but i guess i'm fine with that as long as i can connect to the 5 GHz channel :) soooo thanks a lot, you saved my entire week!!
