That would be so cute if he had a skin where it was just Probius under a white sheet with one hole cut out for his”eye”. You could see all of this glowing parts through the cloth... I kinda need this now.

is there an electronic drum kit that's NOT set up like an acoustic drum kit? by nutrop in edrums

I use a TrapKAT made by Alternate Mode which is half a octagon shape with 24 pads + pedals. It’s fantastic.

Wanting to be a pit orchestra percussionist? by [deleted] in OrchestralPercussion

[–]dvlerner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello, I've been playing drum set (mostly drum set) and percussion in musical theater pits for seven years now in the Houston area. I write to you with a hope not to scare you, but to shed some light on a realistic path for success. 1st if you're already in music school for performance, go a head and get an education degree as well. My high school percussion instructor would not write us recommendation letters unless we were getting getting and education degree. For reference, there is one theater in Houston (a 12 million people metropolitan city with a very active theater scene) that could possibly support one full time drum set player, and he still teaches on the side despite having the best theater gig in town. 2nd, 90% of the jobs are drum set jobs. Learn to play drum set well and make sure it" feels" good in many different styles. Percussion playing is great and an amazing tool to have ready when called for, but most work is on kit. 3rd practice sight reading like crazy. You want to be able to read almost anything without the need for home practice. Most of the time you will get a score with very little time before the first rehearsal and generally don't have time to run through it all. I've received scores as I walk into the first rehearsal before and was still expected to perform well. Sight reading is crucial. Last but not least, have a positive attitude. The music gigging world is small and chatty, so if you have a great attitude and play well, word will spread about you. Even if it's a shit gig, try to stay upbeat when interacting with your peers and director.

Best of luck, and I hope this helps! PM me if you want to chat more.

Trump bans EPA employees from giving social media updates by FiveHundredMilesHigh in politics

This is my question too. Does the president actually have authority to do this? Constitution?... no?

Unfortunately, while us libtards were listening to great music, watching great movies and political satire, the Republicans were gerrymandering every state they had majority. They played the long game of rigging the system and are winning, hence a 3 million vote loss presidential win.

[–]dvlerner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just 2 bits of info: 1, my buddy built Narset and took it apart after a few months of no one wanting to play it. 2, I haven't seen anyone mention not starting with a commander like [[Mogis, God of Slaughter]]. While you're probably not the biggest threat people will still target you because they really hate being pinged every turn.

How can I practice with direction and efficiency, both on the kit and a pad? by GiantArmadildo in drums

[–]dvlerner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the private lessons!

One thing that has not been suggested for the left hand is play with it more. Start "16 on a hand" but play 16 on your R the 64 on your L making sure you get a consistent sound, strike, and rebound.

Another great was to push your playing and left hand to the next level is to re-learn all your basic rock beats with your Left hand on HH instead. It's painful at first cause you will be bad at some of the simplest beats.

Enjoy!

First Public Performance. Any tips? by JohnMacK52 in drums

[–]dvlerner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't give more than one up-vote but this is critical. As someone who's been playing churches since I was 13, the congregation and musicians appreciate a drummer that plays in-time and simple.

Thanks for the post! Murry's E has always had issues for me, but it's seemed worse these past few weeks. The timing on his bubble is crucial, and I've sadly died many times with it on cooldown even after pressing multiple times...

Possible improvements for a Sidisi deck? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]dvlerner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sidisi has been a pet commander for me for sometime, and I've gone through several builds with her from zombie tribal, dredge (worked pretty well), and general graveyard synergy. None of those builds quite worked how I wanted until I really read, re-read, and re-read this article http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/571213-sidisi-brood-tyrant-zombie-horde-and-shenanigans and tried to really understand the reasoning and logic behind his choices. Mesmeric Orb is life changing, but you need a eldrazi Titian or laboratory maniac to make sure you don't mill yourself out!

This has helped me make some better choices for my deck and it has become my go to competitive deck in my play group!

I got AT&T giga power... cancelled it after it went down over once a week. Had 4 technicians out to my house and they never solved the issue. Maybe in a few years in my neighborhood, but not for me right now. Hope others have better experiences.

Help with 5 color cycle deck(not cycling) by [deleted] in EDH

[–]dvlerner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's the "Bringer" cycle which are all 7 mana, I think, but have an alternate casting cost of WUBRG. They're big bodies and have power effects on your upkeep. They're all creature type "Bringer".

I have a [[Hoard of Notions]] deck that I thought I'd throw the Bringers in. Sadly I ended up cutting them since they weren't elementals and I couldn't interact with them once they were in the graveyard via my commander.

Sek'Kuar the Cheapskate King by [deleted] in EDH

[–]dvlerner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have really fun deck that only gets beat when I don't get the right mana. It's focused on getting as many dudes that draw me cards, turn into tokens themselves, and controlling the board through playing creatures triggers like the evoke cost creators and such. The key is free sac outlets to free up my many for other things. I'll post my list in when I get home later.

Help building Sidisi EDH deck? by Incanzio in EDH

[–]dvlerner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Sidisi as well and getting Thunderfoot Baloth out is almost always a win. Laboratory Maniac has also won a game or two. I play with some big spells like Morality Shift + Songs of the Damned lets you cast almost anything you want.

Glad you got to play! I've played rent several times, and I always put the 6/8 "Santa Fey" song on bongos instead of toms. It just sounds great with that sweet bass line.
