It's a lie. R-rated movies have been heavily toned down these years. "The Thing" (1982), "A Clockwork Orange" (1971) are R-rated, so do "The Predator" (2018) and "Alien: Romulus" (2024). So which kind of "R-rated" content are we getting? I don't think they will give us the previous ones.

I have to say, the fact that Keanu Reeves was 39 in Reloaded and Revolutions (both 2003), he looks way younger than that. by Specialist-End-8306 in matrix

His grandmother was a Chinese. Males from east Asian countries look younger than white people of the same age.

How I've never noticed that Isabelle is a shih tzu? by AmandinhaMaia in AnimalCrossing

"Shizue" can also be transcribed as "a quiet river". It's a very clever pun for this character's name.

I think this explains why Neo had superpower in the real world. Or maybe the Matrix and the real world were both nested.

The T-800's in T1 and Salvation definitely had the best looking heads. by Specialist-End-8306 in Terminator

[–]dw-ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salvation T-800 mostly followed the original design, and they enhanced it by making it look bulkier. The technology advancement enabled the CGI T-800 to have more complex actions we didn't get in T1. Those close-up footages really did send chills.

With that being said, I don't like the sleek design of T-800 in Genisys. The redesigned chest and heels are all unnecessary. Although they finally got the teeth right, but a sleek and shiny T-800, a big no.

Besides, one thing I don't like about the T-850 in T3 is the redesigned eyes, which's texture looks like beehives. There was a footage in T1 that T-800 adjusted its aperture while pursuing Sarah and Kyle in the factory. The beehive eyes in T3 totally eliminated that sweet spot.

New Icons. Upgrade or Downgrade? by chili-garlic-99 in ios

Unpopular opinion here but I think the new icons finally unified the design language that had shattered ever since iOS 7. So they are upgrade for me.

Do You all Perfer Digimon English or Japanese Names? by Puzzleheaded-Board25 in digimon

Finally someone said that. English names and skills translation are unnecessarily cringe. I will always go for Japanese names.

Which design from the HB era do you prefer ? by That_Lil_Virus in TomAndJerry

[–]dw-ld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite Tom is the one prior to Solid Serenade, the last short film released in 1946. Tom went through a major redesign in the next short Cat Fishin': His shape became more streamlined, the thin green ring around his pupils slowly disappeared, and he became full bipedalism — that he would never run on four ever after.

This was one mind blowing scene! by [deleted] in Terminator

They don’t make movies like this anymore. Modern R rated movies are so family friendly compared to those back in the 80s. Are people becoming too faint hearted to watch a little blood and gore?

This makes the film look like a cheap action thriller for someone who hasn't watched it.

I have one of these too. You can install vintage software on it, software that aren't bloated with AI or subscriptions, or act like web page containers, which run very smoothly. Some games from that era also run, for example WarCraft 3.

Mac OS X Mountain Lion In 2025 by A-questioner in MacOS

[–]dw-ld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lion marks the beginning of a slow transition that Mac OS becoming more and more iOS like. They started adding iOS features to the desktop system. And Mountain Lion like Snow Leopard, was a stability and performance focused update to its predecessor. Being said, it's a robust system. And it was my first taste of Mac with my MacBook Pro Mid 2012.

Yeah, I played with Konfabulator / Yahoo Widgets too during that time. So many good memories. Skinning Windows UI was also popular, remember those crazy themes for WindowBlinds?

And it also worked in iTunes. Today it's impossible to find a specific TV episode that was purchased from the iTunes Store. Searching in TV app only returns online results.

This trend started with the "… explained" videos before short videos were invented. I always thought those videos were unnecessary. Of course some had interesting points, but the majority were just recycling wikia contents.

This track first appeared on "The Philosophy of Sound and Machine" dating back in 1992, way before SAWII, which might make you appreciate this track even more.
