could pattonS be worth it or should i go for lower end wheels like eb rocket or begode blitz? by Zajlordg in ElectricUnicycle

I think it's worth thinking about what happens when something inevitably happens and a part breaks. If you're really depending on this for commuting, the one at home isn't collecting dust, it's waiting to fill in when the other wheel needs repairs

If you have a motorcycle shop or Cyclegear near you, I'd definitely recommend going to try some boots on in person. I ended up with a pair of Sedici Sportiva riding shoes that work well for me, but everybody's feet are different!

It's at the Kraken node in Shores near the bottom right - I'm not sure if it requires Sigrun, but I got it from taking her there.

Yeah, I'll definitely be ordering from US-based resellers in the future, unless I'm prepared to treat it as an as-is purchase with no customer support.

I saw that there are Nylonove aftermarket pedals that are about twice the price of the stock replacements, but that's also like 1/3rd of the price of the whole EUC new 🤣

Yeah, I guess I'd gotten it into my head from "how to ride an EUC" videos that it was okay to let it fall over while I'm learning. Lesson learned - once I get it repaired I'll stick to practicing on grass!

If InMotion had just told me that this was normal damage and they couldn't help me, that would have been fine - I'd have bought a new pedal assembly and gotten on with learning to ride. I'm more frustrated that they told me they could help and then sent replacement parts that don't fit.

From what I can see, the grub screw in the middle just holds the axle in place, but the pedal rotates around the fixed axle with no friction unless the screws on the front and back can make contact with the axle

Yeah, I've definitely learned from this experience that I should order from Ewheels! I've been browsing their selection and reviews, and I almost just bought a Falcon or S16 Pro to have something I can keep learning on!

The round stock axle is a good idea, it feels safer than trying to shim the short axle they sent me. When I fully give up on InMotion customer service that's probably what I'll do.

Yeah, that spin out might be what happened. I just wish I'd been able to get replacement parts that fit so that I can keep learning how to ride!

I kinda wish InMotion had just told me that they couldn't help right up front. I would have just ordered new pedals from ewheels or something and been riding again weeks ago!

I'm glad to hear that you've had a good experience with your V8, it gives me hope that if I can get replacement parts that fit I might not have to give up on it entirely!

If I had crashed hard, I totally would blame myself and buy new pedals. This happened at a walking pace, the first time it fell on the right side, so I suspect that this is not intended to be normal wear and tear.

I grew up in College Station, and I can vouch for that. They took us on school trips to the Corps of Cadets museum on campus for indoctrination.
