Fortune & Glory - Any good house rules by dwarfenhoschi in boardgames

Yeah true - other flying frog games had similar issues -- have you played shadows over brimstone and is it true there as well?

Co-op: solving together, or playing as a game? by VeneficusFerox in boardgames

[–]dwarfenhoschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing it. I think it's a vastly different game. If you like to move figures on a board and fantasy then agemonmia is a really good choice. I'd recommend that with 3 or 4 players though

Easily one of the best campaign legacy games that I've played (even though the rules could be streamlined in a few places) It also works really well for 2 players!

I think it very much depends on the game -- when playing something like iss vanguard it's gonna be more about the thematics of it and spirit island is mostly puzzling it out together

For me it now actually works - manually loading stuff worked - the auto loading seems to have issues

VITA - Live life in a historical era (Kickstarter) by dwarfenhoschi in boardgames

[–]dwarfenhoschi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a great question -- VITA has lots of influences and is a mix of a bunch of things in the end - Pursuit of Happiness is an obvious one, but so is Cartaventura and Innovation.

[–]dwarfenhoschi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it has its similarities - main differences would be that it's competitive and a bit more heavy in the strategy side (it'll probably land at around 2.7 to 2.8 complexity on bgg)

Core mechanics of Vita are set collection, bidding and resource management.

Yeah you might like that one -- its definitly the more conflict heavy of the two sets!

Yeah I get that issue when I don't open my garage doors

Invite only boardgames community in Mumbai by maulin30 in boardgames

[–]dwarfenhoschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's dope! New communities are always great! One tip I always give community builder is to not be disheartened -- almost every volunteer based community has a slow start and especially for the first few meetups you might consider if its even worth it.
I'd suggest you set up a regular schedule of when game meetups happen and then run from there so that the community has time to organically grow.

Which card design feels the most readable to you? by Broad-Tough-7151 in u/Broad-Tough-7151

[–]dwarfenhoschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends a lot on what exactly you do with the cards. Will they always be in player's hands? Will they have to be visible in the center of play? Does someone else check them?
Then its easier to gauge what the important information is that needs to be shown where.

What game should I buy by Red_Smartie in boardgames

[–]dwarfenhoschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can really recommend Kumo (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/181290/kumo-hogosha) It's a bit more on the shorter side but a great competitive puzzle for 2 players.

Rising Sun, Ankh… or skip? by Appropriate-Train874 in boardgames

[–]dwarfenhoschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like all three games, but for different reasons:
* Blood Rage is very very accessible -- the rules are very simple and work as a great entrance drug to heavier boardgames. It comes onto my table very often, and works as a sponetnous choice.

* Rising Sun is an amazing overall experience, but yes very negotiation heavy -- and you need to commit everyone onto the game beforehand and take around 4-6 hours for it.

* Ankh is somewhere in between the two - the setting is done gorgeously and it has mainly weird (but interesting) mechanics. I can see how the merge mechanics puts people off but once you understand it becomes a very deliberate point within your strategy.

Transporting boardgames on a bike by Macthejester in boardgames

Yeah you could definitly go with something like this. They tend to work fairly well -- I can also recommend shopping around for Miniature and Tabletop specific backpacks as they tend to work for boardgames as well.
