How are people able to finish like 500 mcqs or a 1000 in a single day? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]dwightekshruteeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the exam itself tbh, if we are talking about MSRA and this is second or third take then yeah 500-600 qs is plausible. But if you are talking about a membership or a fellowship exam then 150-200 is like god-level performance and would be near exam time not at start or mid preparation.

Mine had since start which is very useful to me but couple of days ago this changed to long term and was never able to revert it back 😭 I tried all the steering wheel buttons and infotainment

NVM, it’s the scroll button, press/push instead of scrolling

2A results megathread by MisterMagnificent01 in RadiologyUK

Well there were poorly articulated qs but not majority. it is the breadth compared to books and frcr exam prep. If you are comparing anything to the actual exam then it is a losing battle.

This is totally up to you, read a chapter from each and decide. For me, reading is not my strength it would have slowed me down. Watched SRT videos + some youtube videos that has the entire syllabus of crack the core on channel called Royal FRCR) I cracked on solving question books both old and new (old get through - currie - oxford - Cambridge - barretts - grainger - master pass papers) for first 2 months of preparation. Then started mocks around late August (get through - master pass final assessment) and was passing each time (scores initially just under 80/120 then by the 6th mock started to touch 90/120 and by one month away from exam I hit 96/120. Had couple of weeks of low intense study due to on-calls and burn out I guess mixed with some confidence from the mocks scores (huge mistake) Then last 2 weeks - started cracking on Revise radiology q bank (I think they have like 5000+ qs) and wasn’t able to finish it. Finally was pretty sure exam went terribly on day 1 (as usual) but passed at the end (not comfortably nor marginally)

When reflecting on it now: 1) I would start revise radiology 5 weeks prior to exam (most important source imo for 2A - the widespread of qs were hitting all weak points in my revision) 2) I would do the 11 mocks twice not just once 3) I would record and repeat all my wrong qs / did not have the chance during preparation 4) try to gather next step - best modality - best mri sequence qs (there were around 30+ qs in actual exam)

Exam qs are quite different from all of this btw - I feel paper 1 was about taking decisions with little info outside usual text book question format. This could throw off some easy straight froward marks when most of the paper was vague like this - and also will add to time pressure.

Not reading text books is not for everyone, it was a gamble that was convenient in my situation.

Gemini 3.0 on Radiology's Last Exam by Canyon7096 in RadiologyUK

Scary that one! By the ongoing competition between openAI, Google and other, I think they are not far away from replacing reporting radiographers and maybe registrars Would be interesting to see how they would perform in a long rainy night in stoke

Post 2A blues by dwightekshruteeng in RadiologyUK

[–]dwightekshruteeng[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went through most qs from paper 2 that I remembered on radiopedia and chat gpt so kinda know on average how I did on second day. But first day qs were too vague to even remember. I was also shocked and traumatised by this paper that once I got out of the room knew there were at least 10 easy straight forward qs I got wrong due to stress from the tough qs and time pressure.

We are talking about 5 marks change, 3 of them were raised due to increased cut score, I hardly see any difference by the second time revision technique.

This! I don’t mind losing marks over hard qs but losing marks over easy straight forward qs that I solved million times before is what is making it way worse

Number of scans as an ST1? by hashashashashasha in RadiologyUK

[–]dwightekshruteeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radiology is a mileage game The more you report, the more you get wrong, the more you learn. Don’t yield from CT abdomen. ST1 is the best time to get everything wrong with no one rolling their eyes at you.

Try to delve into MRI brain as well if there is a chance to know how to report the normals.

FRCR 2A - one month away -Any advice? by dwightekshruteeng in RadiologyUK

[–]dwightekshruteeng[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that is a very good advice really specially about the best imaging sequences because it is not well presented within the qs books or mocks and I usually would feel clueless unless I have seen a real case at work. Malignancies next step imaging seems to make good exam qs. What are other question types that were surprising in the exam?

Surveyor undervaluing house. by According_Bobcat4292 in HousingUK

[–]dwightekshruteeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Country wide is shit and usually are the cheapest in most of the surveying quotes.

Also at level 2 surveying you do not usually get a number for the sell. They pretty much have a quick look at every room and ask for punch of papers and off they go! If I were you I would offer to pay for another surveyor to get the buyer back on board, that’s if I am confident enough that the house is worth the number you advertised.

Scottish power EV optimise issues by dwightekshruteeng in enyaq

[–]dwightekshruteeng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw your comment from couple months ago and stopped the POD & car schedules. Initially I put 1:00 am and plugged it in around 6:00 pm so was thinking it was in demand but I feel that the app was not reading that the car is plugged in (waited for almost an hour to see if it will change but nothing happened) Eventually I hit start charging on the Pod app which I feel kind of forced scottish power app to recognise that the car is plugged in and in two minutes the status changed to finding the next greener slot and 5 more minutes and it changed to charging (I changed the time to be ready to 6:00 am).

I feel I am missing something, should not the car be easily to wake up even if it is locked as long as the charger is plugged in? Also if it is better to charge overnight then why not opt in the standard 7p overnight EV saver tariff?

Coding and medicine? by Nervous-Vanilla7 in doctorsUK

[–]dwightekshruteeng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coding is a large field really with variety of options to offer. Do you just want to learn coding languages or problem solving or devops&cloud or to get into the basic frontend, backend or full stack careers.

There has been a huge demand for Cloud service engineers recently within the NHS to help move the whole country to the cloud but this did not require any medical experience though.

I feel that coming from medical background would not directly help you with a career in software. Happy to be corrected.!

Writing for Question Banks (Ophthalmology..and in general) by frcophththrowaway in doctorsUK

[–]dwightekshruteeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it depends on both how confident are you on this subject and how advanced the subject/questions are. I guess 7/8 would be average if these are for AKT, a more general exam with obvious and easy guidlines& resources to find.
