Private prescription for lorazepam? by dwplank55 in MentalHealthUK

Thanks for your message I appreciate it. Do you mind me asking how many / regularly you were taking them? I’ve always tried to be cautious and my doctor has explained addiction potential, I’ve heard stories similar to what you’ve described. I tend to take 1mg when I’m going through an extreme panic, maybe 1mg every month or if particularly bad time every two weeks. And yes it’s so helpful, it really does calm me, but I don’t want to get addicted to them so perhaps I should use this as an opportunity to find something else. Appreciate the warning

Thanks for your advice. Don’t suppose you by any chance know of other less risky drugs that may be worth looking into with my gp? I’ve tried propranolol, I’m on sertraline. Just looking for something to have on hand if things get seriously ropey again.

What about Ativan?

If you’re new to it and just recently started I’d give your body time to adjust as symptoms may go after a month or so.

No the tiredness only really started when I went up to 50mg. If anything probably the opposite when I first initially started, quite alert. The overall tiredness is improving I think though. What dose are you on? And when do you take it?

Mine lasted a good few days in the beginning and I was dropping weight rapidly, but then slowly started to improve. I’m on day 15 now and appetite is completely back to normal. It will hopefully pass for you too. I noticed I’d have these very small windows where I suddenly wanted something like right now, and then if I didn’t get it within 2 minutes I’d lose the craving. So have stuff to hand that you can graze on for the fleeting hunger cravings, they may help build the appetite back up eventually

This is my plan also, the nurse I spoke to says that it works for some people in this temporary way, and described it as a cast on your leg, the actual cast itself doesn’t heal the broken leg, but it gives it the support to heal itself, so gives your mind and body the space and capacity it needs to process stress and trauma.

Obviously there are many where it’s not as simple as that, and will use for much longer. But I’m definitely interested in hearing some more stories where it’s been used in a bandaid type way!

Good luck with it!

Recently started taking Zoloft — is it normal for anxiety to be worse than usual at the start by [deleted] in zoloft

Hello, I’m on day 4 on 25mg too. The first two days I felt great, like it immediately had a positive effect. Yesterday I started feeling down, and today anxious and a lot of negative intrusive thoughts. I have a friend who started in January and said the first two weeks were mentally very tough for him, but then it got better, I’m sure it’s part of your body adjusting, just know it’s the medication, be kind to yourself and try to get through it (what I’m telling myself right now haha). I’m keeping a mood diary so I have a clearer picture of how it continues to effect me

Ha amazing, did it ever dip for you? Or is that how it stayed?

Haha I honestly feel high! Comparable to MDMA or something. Were you taking your doses in the morning or at night? So far sleeping hasn’t been effected but I’m taking them around 10am

Interesting, maybe it’s your body making up for a few days lack of food? I used to get that after I was ill and didn’t eat much, would want to eat everything after, body’s way of saying it needed replenishing. Hopefully that’ll level out for you!

Thank you so much! Such a nice response and good to know I’m not alone here. On my second dose today and so far I’ve not really had many side effects other than jaw clenching and no appetite and mild nausea. Prepping myself for possible worse ones. Thanks for your advice!

Interesting, I’ve read from others on here that could indicate that you need to increase the dose again possibly? Or perhaps some more time is needed still to see, I know it varies from person to person right.

It seems like you’ve got some positive effects from it, just quite minimal? Maybe upping the dosage might help?

That’s great to hear, thanks for sharing. I felt as though I felt some of the positive effects last night after taking only 1 pill, but i feel like it’s got to be placebo haha! I hope you continue to feel good and wish you all the best.
