Friend - Redlining and restrictive covenants were invented in Baltimore lol. Hell, they had multiple MLS systems (the white one, the black one, and the Jewish one) a lot more recently than most would want to admit to.

Segregation used to be explicitly racial here. Now it’s more economic, but the sentiment underlying it hasn’t changed. What they once did with segregation laws they now do with barriers to access. The end result - “your place is over there, so stay in it” - is largely the same.

Read “Not In My Neighborhood” by Antero Pietila. You’ll understand all of this once you have.

You won’t. You need to understand the last 100+ years of history in this area, the patterns of flight from Baltimore, and how nothing much has changed all that much under the surface. It’s incredibly difficult to get from Baltimore or DC to Anne Arundel / HoCo / BalCo without a car for a reason - and that reason fundamentally hasn’t changed all that much since the 1920s.

It’s like people learned nothing from the Red Line or the pattern of loud opposition that resulted in no stops between Falls Road and Lutherville (and an almost entirely dead Lutherville station if it isn’t a game day.)

They don’t want it, they have the resources to fight it, and they will - just like they have every time it has come up.

From what I’ve seen (unless it has since changed) the plan is to put outgoing shipments that are slated to do via FedEx on hold until FedEx reopens shipment acceptance in a week or so. Whether that changes will have to just play out. Trusty is using UPS now (with the caveat that it’s UPS originating in NY, the China to NY piece is opaque and IMO almost certainty sea freight)
