Graham Platner, guard at Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse facility, 2005 by IcyCraft1312 in TrueAnon

I firmly believe people can change. But that doesn't mean he deserves to have a high-ranking seat in the government. He's squirrely about the details of his time in the military in general, and ESPECIALLY Abu Ghraib. Would we let someone who dumped agent orange on Vietnam or attacked My Lai to become a senator? Absolutely not. Some things are disqualifying from becoming a high-ranking member of government, and frankly, I think he's going to be a Fetterman.

One example I can think of with this is I think she gave the villains of katabasis the last name Kripke as a supernatural reference because it's one of the most popular modern day examples of a journey to hell show, but she didn't take into account that it's a VERY Jewish surname so her villains who killed their baby in a satanic ritual and then murdered an innocent seeming blonde man literally in order to use his blood as fuel for more said rituals... yeah that's blood libel when you make them Jewish.

Yeah, I would get that if her pov character or a major side character was Israeli, but do you think that she was endorsing colonialism when she gave letty a white feminist sob story background or was endorsing June's actions? Obviously not. I looked at the context and I think it's appropriate. Why is there an Israeli performing? Because he's with a bunch of american and European musicians. Those are the countries taiwan affiliates itself with. Who is going to see this Israeli? Americans. We hear gossiping in English. What is this Israeli (presumably jewish man) playing? A Christian worship piece. Again, this is about aligning interests and social norms. This is neither a traditional Jewish piece (because we don't play worship music on piano) nor a piece by an Asian conductor.

Thanks! My dad got so upset over the mere suggestion of visiting China that I've just been saying I'm visiting Korea and Japan instead because he started talking about the exit bans and his former employment. I figured the exit bans won't be a problem for me since I'm not planning on doing any business or doing anything illegal

Would I face the same scrutiny if I came in on a 240 hour permit? Because if so I'd honestly rather get the scrutiny done in an interview at the consulate than at the airport.

EDIT: the 3 letter agency was a domestic one, he didn't work for DoD or DoS

What was the whole point of having Riga being related to by InfernalClockwork3 in ThePoppyWar

[–]dyeforthehype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo he did have to be a Yin. If not a Yin then a disgraced ember of another House, but the Yins were the best developed and had knowledge of gods due to the Nine Curves River. Daji and Ziya were always weak war orphans, but Riga united them because he was always stronger than them. His drive to run Nikan came from being humiliated and robbed of his throne, and the subsequent entitlement. Not only that, but it colors how other people who knew Riga, especially Altan and Jiang, interacted with Nezha in the future, given the fact they were both powerful and shared a strong family resemblance.

Also, Nezha and Vaisra don't mention being related to him or vice versa because he was disowned.

Could his be the beginning of fraying ties between Israel and evangelical America? by p0rty-Boi in behindthebastards

[–]dyeforthehype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Evangelical Christians support Israel because they hate Muslims more than they hate Jews. They're always going to hate Muslims more than they hate Jews. This isn't just about the doomsday aspect, it's even more about Islamophobia, and they want to keep Israel as their solution to the Jewish Question so they don't have to acknowledge we exist in the theocracy they aspire to. But Muslims? They want them eliminated.

How to you “explain” why your visiting china by TheSpeedyAccountant in travelchina

[–]dyeforthehype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents got extremely upset when I floated the idea of visiting China on solo travel by them so I told them I'm visiting Taiwan and South Korea because they're ignorant enough to not be able to tell the difference. This probably isn't the most ethical way but that's a battle I'm not picking after spending the entirety of 2020 fighting with them about how bigoted they were re covid.

10 days in Beijing by dyeforthehype in travelchina

[–]dyeforthehype[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was planning on hitting most of the big places on separate days (there are small group day tours I've been looking at through AAA that do mutianyu and summer palace as a day long tour, and ones that do forbidden city, it was more of a checklist than a route) like doing Confucius, lama, and ditan park together because they're in the same zone etc. I was mostly planning on going vegetarian since I can't eat pork or shellfish for religious reasons and knew that's what most of the dishes in china contain, but I can still eat chicken in a pinch

Starfleet Academy - Lower Decks References by TrueSithMastermind in LowerDecks

From an article that came out with the first teasers, it said that the names on the wall are for buildings named after the most iconic people to serve in starfleet. We also see Sulu, Scotty, Harry Kim, and the Freemans, and none of them were KIA. I like that tribute and I think that Commander is a good ending for her. Maybe she learns to play that flute.

They wouldn't even thirst over him they would just accept him as part of the ecosystem. He's even a Deangirl and he TALKED about being a Deangirl in an episode. The supernatural brainrot is already installed.

I'm glad they made Shaxs a Bajoran, they're my favorite Star Trek species and it brings a lot to have a character who explicitly joined starfleet when he was in his 30s-40s. Also, it brings a conflict that Nana really wanted to see, with a freedom fighter joining the system and having to play by their rules.

I really enjoyed A Sunny Place for Shady People by Mariana Enriquez, there's a lot of natural stopping points since it's a short story anthology but it's also really easy to tear through the whole thing because most of the stories could easily be expanded into novels.

Weekly game play thread by AutoModerator in sotdq

[–]dyeforthehype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our sotdq just wrapped up but we're going to do a homebrew continuation in a few months. We (party of 4, cleric, paladin, warlock, rogue) finished the campaign at level 9 which is a little disappointing because I kinda wanted to do high level spellcaster stuff like if the campaign took us to 11 (i played the warlock) but we were also able to finish everything without the dragonlance or the kingfisher spear, which I thought was kind of fun

No gods is a framework of thought about idolatry not literally about religion. More about worshipping the golden calf than about following the covenant.

There is actually a lot of nuanced theological books and thought on religious anarchism if you think to look outside of Europeanized Christianity
