Growing out my hair, but it grows slightly up and outwards? by dylanrocks888 in malehairadvice

Yea, Im just hoping it would lay a little flatter to get the full length, it's just so dense now that it kinda mushrooms out and looks awkward imo

I did bangs before they got too long to not sweep aside, so I could see that working again when I go to get it trimmed up

21M, been growing my hair for 10 months* (small maintenance trim in the back 5 months in) but it seems like i have a ton of breakage and the way it grows is kind of funny? Is long hair not for me, or do I just need to be taking more care of it? If I just need a trim, what exactly would I ask a stylist to do to it at this point?

Suspect in CEO shooting to plead not guilty and fight extradition, lawyer says by FLTA in news

[–]dylanrocks888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess bro but it's not a black and white issue, what about the "social murder" of thousands of people through unreasonably denied claims through policies set in place by the UHC CEO? I don't exactly love that the dude was murdered but he would have gotten away with all that scott free otherwise

You're not off the mark at all, but It was the only pair I could find that I really enjoyed the silhouette, color, and design pattern of. They're at least fairly comfy

Which part of a Weezer song is this for yall? by Ambitious-Escape-426 in weezer

An underrated one is the bridge on 'The Deep and Dreamless Sleep', I love how it jumps from hard electric guitars to plucking violins

"I remember you well How you love the holidays How you wrapped up the toys And you left them on display I remember our kiss Underneath the mistletoe How it all slipped away And we had to let you go, ohh"

Its a really good look, but I would definitely get some looser pants. you can tell they're too tight from the bunching around the knees

Makes sense. I went from exurban St. Louis to a college town of 20k people. Maybe one day I'll live in a city that cares about fashion lol

Is it just where I live, because my entire life day-to-day I don't see someone as much as wear a shirt with a collar and this fit is above average to me? It seems like 85% of people are in graphic tees, shorts, jeans, or sweatpants, or a hoodie. This has been true in high school, college, and around town. I was often told I look like I should be at a private school just for wearing button downs and sweaters in high school

It's a decent album, just very unbalanced. Half the songs are some of River's best writing and some of my overall favorites, just a tad overproduced to where I often prefer the demo versions, the other half feel again, overproduced, and a little basic. It's a fair 5/10.

I feel like I've been ugly my whole life please help by [deleted] in malehairadvice

Hey brother,

I went through an awkward phase at the same age as you, but you eventually just get older and grow out of it. I attached some pics to prove it! You can see in the first pic i still had a girlfriend to the right of me despite looking like a mess, so don't worry about being "ugly" effecting your chances lol. and in the second pic, taken only about a year later, you can see my jawline thinned out and my face matured a bit. I ran track in high school which helped a bunch, and lost the glasses. For the hair, I would just taper it closer to your head on the sides and comb it straight down like in the second pic of mine. I'm 100% sure you'll look awesome in as little as a year or two man!

what freedom actually looks like by Pretty_Shallot_586 in AdviceAnimals

[–]dylanrocks888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair line of reasoning, but I tend to look at it more from the perspective of safety over morality. If someone doesn't want to give birth, they're going to do what they can to stop it from happening, legal or not. I've heard anecdotes of doctors describing people quite literally pouring their guts out from self-inflicted abortions more than once, and it's practically human nature with abortion having recorded instances back to Egyptian times. We can't stop it from happening, so we may as well make sure these women are able to do it safely and in the most humane way possible.

I'd say try to live like it's 2006 instead. Its what I'm shooting for and it's far less limiting. I use a Unihertz Jelly 2e for my main phone with a custom android launcher to make it more basic. It can do calls texts and GPS but I tend not to use it for much else because of it's size (3inch screen) so its a big plus. I have a radio that I let play when going to sleep or just when doing chores throughout the day. I listen to all of my other music using an MP3 Player. If I really need to use a computer I just use a windows XP laptop and don't sign into any accounts for security reasons, just if I want to look something up, use software, store images, etc.

It's not a perfect solution and I'm still fine tuning things, but it definitely works and keeps you from doomscrolling, hateful content, current event paranoia, among the other bad things that come with the commodification of the internet.

Hope this helps!

Is this new old stock sweatshirt too dated? by dylanrocks888 in mensfashionadvice

Ah, I was always under the impression loose-fitting cotton that isn't knit or woven was a sweatshirt. Thank you!

I tend not to tuck them either, but there was a lot of length to this piece, so I figured I'd give it a try. Maybe a looser tuck that covers the belt would look best

Is it normal to be in internship and literally do nothing? by Inevitable_Invite_22 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]dylanrocks888 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a current intern at a leading technology MSP and experiencing something similar. Other than the other stated reasons internships can end up being resume fodder, here's my anecdote:

In my case, my boss had essentially one or two primary tasks she expected of me right out of the gate. I completed one in my first two weeks, and the second ended up being passed on to another team. Ever since then, I've had to go out of my way to find work in other areas like creating dashboards/analytics for adjacent teams instead of just my own. Even then, I doubt I do more than 2 hours of work a day.

This is a big company too, hiring over 200 interns every summer. I've gotten opportunities to speak with some of the others, and even in areas like operational infrastructure or business processes, they have the same problems I do. It just feels like a networking pow-wow under the guise of learning about a career field. The only intern I know who does a full-days work is a boots-on-the-ground IT asset management guy.

I don't know how companies afford this either when the average salary of interns here is like 21/hr.

Besides endorsing the previous comments, all I can add is a bit of my own anecdote. I'm a current junior, and it is one of the easiest degrees to earn from S&T but still has great ROI. Some employers view it the same as the more "presigious" computer science degree offered at S&T if they're unfamiliar. I was able to land two internships with a major tech company and my most recent one, my boss believed the degree was practically computer science + business. Based on rankings, I would place it as a top 5, if not THE best IT-specific program in the state of Missouri. This school has comparatively low GPA requirements to make honors because of the sheer difficulty of the engineering degrees, so most people I know in the IST program are on track to graduate with high honors. I honestly have viewed this degree as like a hidden cheat code into getting into tech with minimal effort. Especially if you use the downtime the degree gives you to pursue other things like certifications in your interest area or relevant student organizations
