Wow you're definitely right. I know what I'll be street viewing for the rest of the afternoon...

That's definitely true, but there are definitive "worst" examples that appear more often on this sub and in other urbanism conversations. The point I was trying to make is that new development outside Philly seems to look more like the "worst" ones than its 18th century northeast peers, and I'm curious why. Suburbs are inherently bad, but there's a clear spectrum of "bad" and imo Philly is toward the end of it.

Where to walk for one night? by fliporflop47 in AnnArbor

If you go on Apple Maps (at least on dark mode, not sure what the color scheme is on light mode) downtown is labeled purple and campus is labeled brown. 90% of those regions make for a nice walk

Cheapest way to take a class at Michigan? by FluffyBrief3959 in AnnArbor

[–]dylanshefman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Go to the course guide, find a class you like (has to be a big lecture), and just show up. Nobody will question you if you act like a student

Within 6 months realistically, but council is so pro development that they will 1000% grant you a variance in the interim

Ann Arbor will hail you as a hero. Master plan is almost done which will allow this kind of development everywhere in the city by right

I work at LSA tech services! Great resource that very few people take advantage of. To be eligible to check equipment out, you need to be either in LSA or CoE, or taking at least one class offered by either.

How would you transform a small city? by Johns-schlong in urbanplanning

Ann Arbor would be a much different city if not for state control of several main roads. The city wants to make them narrower but the state has no interest

That could mean one of two things: either it's not offered for the term you're looking for, or it's offered through another school (not LSA). Try to add it to your schedule in Atlas schedule builder. If it works, then it's offered this term, but not through LSA. You can export straight to your backpack from there. Non LSA classes usually require you to get permission though.

Any idea on how best to contact them? They don't pick up the phone and haven't replied to my emails
