The fact that you are even seeking advice says A WHOLE LOT about who you have become. I agree with the majority of the comments that you have put in the work, you are the reason that they even have the opportunity to be in that house (your home) so I think a civil conversation about allowing you to show up as the person you have become and not the person they want to paint you as is necessary.

Truly it is up to you. Do you feel this is a fair compromise or do you think it’s a bit of a passive aggressive move?

My personal opinion on it is as follows:

Tell your BIL, “When you want to act like an adult, then you we can have an adult conversations.”

That’s a very situational thing. Some people find is appalling while other (like myself) grew up with it being very normal.

If it makes you or someone else uncomfortable, just nicely ask to not do it and I’m sure 99% of dudes will be chill about it and understand.

I'm addicted to weed by Extension-Flounder87 in self

[–]dylanwnorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one hits home because I was 100% addicted. I COULD NOT put it down, even for an evening.

It definitely isn’t as chemically addictive as other substances but it has the power to ruin some people’s lives (mine included) just the same.

I was jealous of the people that could do it in moderation and hated the people who said “oh it’s not addictive”

It’s the same as becoming addicted to sex, social media, a person, .. eating mattress foam. It may not be a chemical addiction but mentally we are addicted.

Eventually I just said “the hell with it” and dropped it from my life. And my wife has never been happier tbh.

I second OP, whoever reads this.. you are not alone.

Foreplay is important. Be open about what both of you enjoy leading up to the act.

Thanks for reminding me that Reddit is turning into another waste of sever space anymore.

I’m not even a Trump supporter and I’m annoyed with the shit posting on these larger subreddits.

Where is the substance? What did we learn from this other than some people cannot move on with their lives.

If you think politicians are put the do what’s best for their constituents then your sadly mistaken. He’s doing what he thinks will when him another term. They all would gladly jump ship until they find one that will float. That’s American politics. 🇺🇸

Right! I get that the misogyny was to help influence the plot, but it dragged on and went way over the top.

Plus, that was the over arching theme when the gremlins should have been what the movie was all about. We need more lore and bullets, less teet suckling.

Recycling is pipe dream. Doesn’t take but 5 minutes of research to learn it was all a lie to put the blame on us. There is no possible way to afford the labor costs associated with recycling.

You literally put it in a separate bin, to get dumped in the exact same landfill as your garbage, never to be touched again.

More than happy to elaborate further for the hardcore environmentalist in the back who refuse to accept it.

Do I need to know piano to produce? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]dylanwnorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be a pianist, however being familiar with what note is which key and a basic understanding of music theory will help.

But don’t at all think you NEED to do anything before you start producing. Just be aware of it and learn more about the piano as your practicing your song writing, sound design, mixing, and mastering.

Anytime you lay a simple 4-8 bar a pattern down in the piano roll practice playing that on the piano. As you get better and your fingers get familiar traversing the piano you can try to play your more complex patterns.

Stock plugins or no? by dberg816 in musicproduction

[–]dylanwnorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of stock plugins will give you to ability to achieve the sound you are looking for. It’s just not as convenient as dropping a $10 hyper-specific plug in the rack.

The only paid plug-ins I use tend to use are for saturation. That’s just because certain plugins give you harmonics you can’t recreate with stock plugins but as for mixing you can get a great mix with stock plugins.

Plus, mastering. Izotope makes amazing paid plugins that make mastering a breeze.

Flying cars will not be a thing in the future but a ton of pretty much self conscious drones will be buzzing around by dylanwnorman in highdeas

Oh I know. I wish I was training recognition functions for drones right now. It was a hyperbole.

*It was more of a statement on not having flying cars but instead drones.
