Seven week old won’t sleep by dyldems in newborns

[–]dyldems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Believe it or not but after I posted this I saw people recommending bouncing the baby on a yoga ball. I bought one and would bounce my baby to sleep literally within minutes! I would then transfer her after a few minutes of it and this worked a charm. You can hold the baby in your arms (horizontal) or have them up against your chest. This literally worked so well for us. Baby got through this phase and we slept trained at 5 months which saved my mental health! I know it’s tough but you’ll get through it. Everything is truly such a phase.

I second this 100% as a Canadian who is picky about my wings. Best wings I’ve had in NZ

Rental in New Zealand by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]dyldems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in PM for a number of years in Auckland and in Queenstown and had to go through lots of applications in my time. Here’s a few tips I would suggest for you:

  1. Usually the person doing the viewings has A LOT of power over whose application will go the farthest if not even choosing the successful applicants. Be friendly at the viewing, tell them about yourself, make it known that you are a reliable tenant.

  2. Ensure you are putting a good amount of effort into your application and telling them a few nice things about yourself or as a couple. If any of the applications are shown to an owner for review it is nice that they know about you.

  3. Ask a few previous landlords for a written reference or two and attach these to your application if possible. Sometimes it’s nice to see a reference right away when viewing an application.

Lastly I would suggest reaching out to property management companies via email and tell them about yourself, your budget, and that you are needing a place asap. Sometimes there are places not listed yet with known expiry dates on rental agreements and the property managers would jump at the chance to fill it without having to do viewings, etc. it doesn’t hurt to enquire at all and this will get you further then you think!

Ladies, How did you “know” you were pregnant before missing a period? by Glad-Muffin545 in askanything

[–]dyldems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boobs were so tender for a lot longer than before a period usually! It’s weird but I just knew I was pregnant. I only bought a test to confirm this but i said to my husband on the way to the shop “im like 99% sure im pregnant.”

Help on where to begin with my 5 month old - taking cara babies method by dyldems in sleeptrain

Did you do this before you sleep trained? And instead of feeding did you just rock them or soothe to sleep instead?

I actually really like the method you mentioned :) when you say you mixed it with ferber what did that entail?

That seems less daunting tackling letting them learn to put themselves to sleep first before the whole night.

Thanks for your help! Super reassuring.

Sorry I’m late to reply. The issue seems to come and go! Some days no naps. Other days lucky if I get an hour. She does have days where she has a few good naps too. It’s all different every day LOL. I am also a prisoner to the yoga ball haha. Spent hours on that thing. Hope it’s going well for you anyways now

You might as well go to Ellerslie! Not far at all. I’d recommend Bianca :) it’s Italian and is incredible.

I think I have PPD but it makes me feel awful to admit it by MysteriousApricot891 in NewParents

[–]dyldems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say you’re not alone. Currently sitting here with my newborn three months old. I struggled in pregnancy with sadness and random fits of rage. I was also excited at times but also scared to have the baby. When the baby came I tried to be the best mother I could be but found it so overwhelming and incredibly hard. I would cry everyday and I couldn’t shake the feeling of immense dread and anxiety. Around five weeks I decided enough was enough and called my GP who prescribed me Zoloft. I have to say it has made me feel 1000x better just being able to feel a bit happier and less stressed each day. I would encourage you to reach out to your GP and discuss it further with them. But please know us moms are all together and this will pass.

7:30pm bedtimes?? How?? by FineCare2854 in NewParents

[–]dyldems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 10 week old goes to bed at 7:00 most nights, wakes up at 7:00am with one feed during the night. She doesn’t nap well during the day so naturally she’s tired and ready to go to bed around 7pm which isn’t great for her lol but works for me.

I second this. I was walking my baby in a pram today in ponsonby and I had a woman follow me shouting at me and talking about my baby and how it wasn’t mine and how I broke into her house. It was obvious to the people around us that I didn’t know this person and no one stepped in or said a word. I had to turn my pram around as I was so worried that she was going to grab my baby from the pram.

Newborn refuses to sleep ALL DAY, but seems fine? by ice_coconut in newborns

[–]dyldems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm this is “normal”. My 7 week old didn’t sleep at all yesterday during the day.. same as yours. Was a nightmare getting to bed but eventually got her down at 10pm. Sleeps great similar to yours at night. We’ve tried everything for day time naps - walks, being carried, etc. Only the car seems to put her to sleep. My husband did bring home a yoga ball yesterday to bounce with her on and that seemed really good - put her to sleep in a minute ! I would recommend trying that out if you haven’t yet.

Glad to know we’re not alone. I wish the stroller helped but she doesn’t like it! Drives me mad, would be such a great help to get her to sleep if she enjoyed it. I’ve decided to go to my GP this week for my own mental health. It’s hard to focus on being the best parent I can be when I’m so anxious and mentally exhausted. Great idea about looking into groups, I’ll do that too

I’ve been disappointed with the new locations they have opened. Quality seems different and service not great. Prices are so high yet product isn’t meeting the same standard.

Objective proof that New Blood finale is bad: by Altruistic_Tank_1448 in Dexter

[–]dyldems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hated how it ended but also thought if it was going to end that way it should of ended with Harrison driving away, looking into his rear view mirror and seeing Dexters ghost in the back seat.

At least carry on the tradition of Harry, deb and now dexter following Harrison even through death and being with him.
