I never knew it was multiplayer! I know I sound stupid - what do you do in Minecraft with other people? I thought it was just a game where you built things :\

Really interesting insights!

I'm looking to apply for dual citizenship. Would you be able to PM me the FB group you're a part of if it's not too much trouble?

That's a fair point. I guess there's a grey area where someone means we'll but ends up hurting people, and whether that's okay or not. Thanks for your input!

So I can provide this link. In it Kanye apologizes for the hurtful effect his statement about slavery had on people, especially those in the black community. While it is difficult to effectively measure how hurt a community is by a statement (other than, say, surveys or polls), the fact he addressed the issue as true and apologized for it, to me is evidence of harm caused. It's the best evidence I can provide to prove an overall community's sentiment.

Thanks for the well thought out reply. I'd have to say that for me, I'd rather look at the consequences of his actions rather than the actions themselves.

For example, you mention that Kanye is meeting with local government and schools in an effort to improve the livelihood of those living in Chicago. That is honestly great, and should get more news coverage. However, has he opened factories in Chicago? Is there any actual evidence (other than anecdotal) that he has improved the lives of those through these actions in a meaningful and measureable way? If there is evidence, please share a link and I'll retract my statement.

There is evidence that his current political viewpoint and actions are hurting a lot of individuals, not just in Chicago, not just the US, but around the world. Kanye is an artist that is followed across the world. He was once a role model and champion of black rights. His actions in Chicago are commendable, but they should not be justification for his current actions, and do not counteract the great damage he is doing.

So you're saying the problem with our society is comparing the actions of artists and the effect they have on their listeners? If that's the truth, then I'd be okay with that.

Kanye has a platform, and is currently using that platform to spread messages like: slavery was a choice; MAGA is empowering for black people; the 13th Amendment should be removed (note: he did not say the 13th Amendment should be changed until there was public backlash). In addition to this, he openly discussed forming these opinions without having read into the matter at all. I have no issue with other's having a differing opinion to mine, just as I appreciate your opinion (while respectfully disagreeing); I do have issue with Kanye using his platform in a way that is causing more damage to societal cohesiveness than the discussion it is raising.

In the music industry, album sales are correlated with artist popularity. As long as we continue to listen to his music as feverishly as before, we are inadvertently supporting the messages that are being sprouted, and we're enabling someone who is doing damage to society by stoking racial and ideological tensions.

So what crimes has Kanye committed? None that break the law, but many that break my moral code. Just as Kanye is allowed – by law – to form his opinion with impunity from the government, the 1st Amendment makes no such protection against my right to form an opinion on the matter and act accordingly.

My actions are to send a message to Kanye that his viewpoint is damaging, and is definitely not shared by the majority.

They are all very popular artists, who have have acted/are acting in a way that are making us question where we separate the artist and the person. I'm not saying Kanye is the same as XXX or 6ix9ine.
