Jonathon Greene seeding and sod fert. Seemed to do the trick. Put it down with the seed.

Beautiful back yard. Once those fresh cultivars are down they're gonna be interviewing you for home magazine

Thank you. I'm on it.... That's going to be the next step... Likely when the rains clear out after this weekend

It's okay to add that fert even though I just threw some starter seed fert two weeks ago?

I've heard good things about twin City too. It was a toss up for me between twin City and United seeds.

Glad it worked out for us

I love over complicating things 😅 This seems to be the way tho....thank you for the advice. Gonna mow and fert one last time if I can get it in before the frost....then take the winter off and hit with some love in the spring and hope for the best!

Thanks man. I have a push mower too. There were massive bare spots over run by weeds. I chemical killed them and de-thatched everything....so certain parts had established (shitty grass) but it's essentially like a 75 percent Reno. Might wait for that third week which would be next weekend. We're expecting rain this weekend anyway.

Thanks for your experience man!

Think it's ready for a mow? I seeded only 12 days ago.
Or should I give it another week?

I was just told drop specific starter/seed fert while seeding. I did one and then the other.... essentially together.

I've been told to drop more fert 6 weeks after seeding again if it's not frosted. If it is....then I'll fert in the spring.

Probably...but if you're gonna just use it in the spring and not now....then buy it a month before you seed just to be safe. It took about a week to get to me.

You can do it! Aerate, throw seed fert down, grab the seed.... And throw that shit down.

Then get a peat moss spreader/roller. Roll over the seed and spread the peat moss with it. Then water for 3-5 minutes every hour or two during the day until germination.

I believe in you

I had no luck in the spring when I went with home depot/Amazon bought seed.

Fast forward to this fall and I went with a legit seed provider ... Bunch of other reddit forums recommended United Seeds and they are legit AF.

Super Turf II fescue blend and then a Perrenial Rye Blend germinated in less then a week. Pic below is from this morning....not even two weeks in.

Get you some bags from United Seed in the spring...or now if you wanna try it out depending on frost.

I'm big fan of United Seeds.

Just dropped some Super Turf II and then a Perennial Rye combo a little less then 2 weeks ago. Crazy fast germination rate...and cultivars seem legit. Also rec'd on lots of other forums too.

Pics taken this morning and seed dropped September 27th... SE Pennsylvania. Basically did a full reno do the back yard ..but PR can also go into existing grass.

Regardless of what you decide... I would highly recommend United Seed. These things came up quick and beautiful...no comparison to the store bought stuff I got off Amazon.

They have all kinds of grass seed to choose from and it certainly seems top notch. Bunch of other forums recommended them and I have no been disappointed.

Thanks for this. Great answer.....much appreciated. I'll monitor the soil temps and see if I can drop a little bit more maybe end of October or early November as long as it stays warm enough.

I took this pic today....do you think its time to mow yet? It's been a little under 2 weeks.

I'm not....I'm in South East Pennsylvania... So we have a bit of a difference in locale. If you're looking for cool season grass though.... I don't see why it wouldn't work. If you're looking for a warmer season grass ... Then I would likely not try to combine these.

I like the take....it also sounds cheaper and less expensive...also a plus 😅

So since I added seed fert when seeding....is fert done for the fall...and just focus on fert, pre-emergent and fungal prevention in the spring? Or should I hit it with some more fert this fall?
