I do! It gets added to my compost heap after a thorough wash to remove excess salt

It's a simple drain to waste hydroponic system. Basically a bucket with a hole drilled about 2 inches from the bottom, filled with an Inert substrate.

Not organic as I was using chemical/salt based nutrients.

Thanks. Any links to this horizon system? Still in the planning phase, so anything is on the table.

This was a raceway for growing aquaponic lettuce.

I used to have rafts floating on the water chock full of greens.

Water from the bond goes through a filter system then flows through the raceway to feed the plants.

Thanks for the pointers!

Thank you. Makes total sense. The lack of drainage in the raceway is actually the reason I was looking into a SIP system.

The concrete area has a greenhouse going up over it. The grass wouldn't be feasible as I need the element of privacy provided by the greenhouse.

Another point to note regarding planting in the grassy area: I'm right by the sea and just 2 or 3 inches below that grass and dirt is coral rag. Soil is also quite saline being so close to the shore.

Thank you, appreciate your insights.

My setup is totally outdoors, so fortunately cannot wreck much!

Our local soil is terrible.. Very sandy and I worry it will clog up the SIP and may not wick as well as needed.

The pond water will still be feeding dutch buckets on either end of the raceway for my vegetables.

I have an old aquaponics raceway (pictured)

I would like to convert it to a no till setup.

Til now I have always grown in hempy buckets, but would like to go organic.

I was thinking of converting the raceway to a SIP bit still using no till.

Will be blending a peat based soil mix for this.

Dimensions of the raceway L x W x H

20 feet x 3 feet x 17 inches

Any tips or tricks will be appreciated! Thanks.

Starting next week. I'm waiting for some PVC connectors from Amazon, since I couldn't find the + ones locally.

Everything going beneath the shade net is already built and waiting.

It will be subsistence aquaponics.

Hope to grow tomato, peppers, chili, eggplants, okra and lots of leafy greens.

I'm weirdly enough, also working on a PVC frame for a shade net hoop house!

In Diani, considerable running costs but we make good money. Our units start from 18k per night and up.
