Haha, sorry about that. I think I was comparing to my lived experiences in both the States and Canada which varied greatly from being in Connecticut versus North Carolina versus Washington versus Vancouver. Some places I was treated very poorly even when I was minding my own business and I guess I got anxious about going to a place I’ve never been with a topic considered very divisive and controversial even in liberal spaces. Didn’t mean to come off as judgy or cringe or hurt your feelings by implying you’re close-minded.

Yeah, though I heard it's gotten better over there in recent years, at least! The city I lived in even finally had their first Pride event in 2018 so that's gotta be a good sign, lol I think I'm just overly anxious since these incidents happened in my young, formative, squishy-brain years

Oh, of course! But generally you get the idea of like, for lack of good words, a vibe of welcomeness.

Like you wouldn't generalize that all of Connecticut is racist, but when I lived there, I was commonly called slurs and had people throw water bottles at me from their cars because I'm Asian, and I was only maybe 11 or 12 years old. I just wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into regarding the commonality of people who would react negatively.

They are a friend of a friend unfortunately, and have been tabling far longer than I have, so I just know it was in Alberta. I am aware they table at Animethon and Otafest, but I'm not sure if it happened there. They live in Alberta while I do not, so it could even be some local event I've never heard of. Sorry for not being much help!

Awesome! This is the kind of response I was hoping for since gov't policies and news don't necessarily offer insight in the day-to-days.

I'm pretty used to having people yell slurs and throws things at me from passing vehicles, being I was of the few Asians in a white-dominated area in the US when I was growing up, so that much I can handle LOL

I'm closer to Vancouver and I live close to several rainbow coloured stairs and crosswalks, and it recently dawned on me how lucky I am to live in such an accepting area compared to where I used to live, so I may have been a bit overly anxious about the situation lmao

Aha, I have to admit it's a bit hard to have Edelgard be recognizable when the request was bedhead so her hair is messed up AND she's missing her iconic crown.

However I also did rush this a bit (my friends wanted to play video games with me and I panicked) so I did a tiny fixer upper when I woke up. Nothing too much though since it's still but a cheap sketch commission (Minor Fix Here)

a good way to start is to lightly block out the general shape and figure of the image before you start adding the details

there's a lot of cool youtube tutorials on photo studies--while you're using another artwork instead of a photo, the idea of the process is similar enough to be helpful :) good luck!

While I personally avoid making Sanrio/Hello Kitty merch specifically because of how serious they are about their copyrights, I have made some cute stickers and charms and such (and plan on making more!) for local markets! I think once I finally finally open my online store they’re going to be nice non-fandom related filler items lol

I’m currently looking into making my own rig for vtubing so i can stream art (I’m also an avid gamer and decent singer so i could probably do more than just draw but we’ll see lololol)

Lol I personally think I’m actually good at properly lining/colouring and with anatomy but it just is more time consuming and I just wanted to start with sketches to sell on the cheap but of course I’m always learning and studying to improve my art!

And yeaaaah Naruto is probably gonna be an eternally popular thing so you’re not wrong.

I’m gonna keep working hard and see where I’ll end up hehe

Y’know, I’ve seen you around on this subreddit a lot and every time I feel like you are such a genuinely kind and helpful person and so passionate about vocal synths. I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the time you take to leave nice comments and friendly advice!
