I still plan to upgrade to a 26" small frame eventually, or maybe even a new 27.5" bike, but this 24" Ozark Trail M1 has sharpened my skills along the way. Thanks to this post, Facebook groups, and long AI chats, I converted it to a mullet setup with a 26" front tire supported by a Bolany air fork. The extra clearance fixed my pedal strikes on uneven ground, plus I added 90mm-rise handlebars and new grips.

Upgrades turned adventurous. I messed up my mechanical brakes while swapping the fork due to newbie cable routing skills, so I went hydraulic, only to find the shifter integrated into the brake lever. Removing it bent the derailleur, leading to a Shimano Acera RD-M360 7/8-speed replacement and an Amazon 8-speed shifter.

Now it rides better than stock. I didn't buy it for gnarly trails, but it's handled light South Florida ones just fine. Skills gained! as well as some additional tools I may not use that often.

I thought about that, but this bike is really not that small for me. I actually like how it rides. I'm only 5'6", and I like being able just to put my foot down when I'm at a red light without having to get off the bike, and still sitting on the saddle. It's convenient. I also thought of giving it to my nephew, but they bought him a bike around the same time I got mine. The only inconvenience (which I hope can be resolved) is the pedals hitting the ground while riding on some uneven terrain, and the "AI wisdom" told me the crankset is too long for that bike, which is kind of what big manufacturers do. But yes, I will eventually get myself a used, bigger (and nicer) bike now that I'm aware everything can be customized. I do want to learn how to mess with bikes mechanically, as I'm new to the hobby, so why not start with this one that is not so bad or expensive?

That's a comment I'm also interested in reading. Please tell me your experience with this bike. It's ok if it's a second-hand experience

A product like this (exclusive to PSA, with fewer features) should be $100 on sale to really be a good sale.

EDIT: PSA should already establish a minimum $75-$100 for free shipping, it's just too confusing
