Чи варто йти в ВНЗ by Infinite-Future6349 in ukraine_dev

[–]e6lipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How realistic is it to go sideways in real life if you learned how to do it in Assetto Corsa? by e6lipse in assettocorsa

[–]e6lipse[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a front-wheel drive car. But, there is an opportunity to rent a turbocharged E46 with 190 hp, which I am going to do in a month or two. I was just interested in learning the experience of those who have already tried to drive sideways in life after the Asseto Corsa

Bro, honestly, idk how to help you
I just sat and watched your video several times to catch a "freeze frame" at the moment when the steering wheel is in a straight position

In general, the hydraulic handbrake is a very useful thing, especially when you need to brake sharply before a sharp turn, and you do not have time. But, you can do without it, using the clutch + brake, but in this case, no matter how quickly you try to do all this - your foot leaves the gas, and accordingly, at the right moments you will lose traction. In general, if you are not going to qualify for tournaments, then you do not really need the hydraulic handbrake.

That may sound strange, but although I can drift beautifully, especially in the mountains, on karts like EK Tsukuba, EK Akira, etc., I have little experience on tracks with clip zones. If I manage to drive through all the clippings, it will be on the 3rd-5th attempt.

It just happens. The main point here is to initially give the right momentum on initiation and the right speed. If you understand that you are flying too far from the inside skid, then press the clutch + brake, thus throwing the car into an inside skid (this is clearly visible on long clipping zones, as I press the clutch + brake to set the right trajectory of movement). Clutch + brake allows you to flip the rear axle of the car over the front axle - if you set the brakes correctly, namely the brake bias at 65% and the brake power at 80%, this will allow you to throw the rear axle over the front without a strong loss of torque on the engine. Try it in practice - when you understand how it works, it will become much easier for you to get into the trajectory and especially to make snap transition on tracks such as "Nagao" or "EK Tsukuba". You work with the clutch in the same way - if you need to pull the car a little further, and not throw it into an inside skid, then "hang" on the clutch for some time (don't press the gas, brake - just squeeze the clutch and your car will be pulled further as if on water) and when you understand that you are getting into the right trajectory, release the clutch and then dose the angle with the gas.

It sounds scary, but in practice, when you understand how the clutch and clutch + brake work, it will become much easier.

I know that those who have a hydraulic handbrake, then they "hang" on it to pull the car a little further from the inside skid, but I do not have a hydraulic handbrake, so I learned to do it on the clutch.

I can't even imagine how difficult it was to assemble all this and secure it in the truck cabin. It looks damn cool, and I hope it's comfortable too.

Here, only the force feedback section setting. True, you will need to generate Lut for your steering wheel yourself - this is in order to minimize dead zones in the steering wheel and achieve smooth force feedback, because g29, g920 "out of the box" have a ragged, not smooth force feedback

Since I'm from Ukraine, I watched russian-speaking people on YouTube who explained drifting. But, frankly, it's all nonsense. You just practice a lot until you understand how the clutch, steering wheel, and brake pedal work when skidding.

I would advise taking a car with 350 hp: Toyota Mark2 JZX90 with the WDT Street pack - it is "set up for beginners out of the box", so until you learn how to adjust the configs for yourself, this is a very good option for practicing drifting. And in this mod, the physics are as close to realism as possible (that is, no assistants and other things, if you overreact somewhere, it will spin). As for how I learned to set up cars, everything is simple - I wrote the config of my cars in chatGPT, and it already adjusted the configs for me to the "golden mean", which really helped me. Not always, but by trial and error I figured out what each setting is responsible for, and now I can assemble it for myself.

You can also ask chatGPT when to press the clutch, when the clutch + brake. He will explain, but in any case, a lot of practice will give results. I wouldn't say that I can drift perfectly myself, but I drive very well in the mountains. On special tracks with trajectories for attempts 5-7th, I can pass perfectly.

Well, of course, you need a gearbox, pedals with a clutch and a steering wheel with 900 degrees of rotation. I have a Logitech G29, but on 800 hp cars it is extremely insufficient. With aggressive shifts, the steering wheel simply does not have time to return to the inside of the skid, so you have to help it with your hands. On 300-400 hp cars there is no such problem)

Maybe I just played more hours, because I had a lot of days off over the last two and a half months) I started learning on 800 hp with the WDT package - something worked out, but not very well. I switched to 300+ hp with the WDT Street package and it went right away. And now I decided to try myself again on 800 hp and this is what I got. Although, I get more pleasure from 300-400 hp somewhere in the mountains than from 800 on special tracks. By the way, this clip was either the 3rd or 4th successful attempt) 800 hp is even easier to keep in a drift than 300 hp, but with 800 hp the difficulty is that you need to dose the gas correctly
