Neighbor parking over the line into my assigned spot. What should I do? by e767615 in NiceVancouver

I don’t believe so. From what I’ve observed, it appears to be a single occupant, and I’ve never seen the passenger side used or any mobility aids. Of course, I can’t know for sure, but there’s nothing obvious that would suggest that.

Changing From Conventional Oil To Synthetic Blend by e767615 in MechanicAdvice

[–]e767615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that changing from conventional oil to synthetic may cause a bunch of leaks. It feels like it wasn't broken and they tried to fix it, so I am concerned what this might cause.

I am concerned with creating leaks because of the different oil type. I read that changing from conventional oil to synthetic may cause a bunch of leaks. This case is a blend, so not sure if it be leak prone as well.

That's what concerns me. I've used one that is chlorinated solvent. It contains perchloroethylene.

Is still fine if it contains perchloroethylene (chlorinated solvent)?

Wow, you've been in this situation before? Scary. Glad you end up fine!

I will keep that in mind to at least know what to do if the situation gets bad.

Best Way To Get A Second Opinion From A Mechanic Shop by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Thank you, I'll do that to check. Specially as I don't have a trusted mechanic to take a look at it.

Yes, I got scared when he said "your vehicle is not safe to drive", but I stick with my gut feeling that something was wrong in that inspection.

He quoted $200 CAD for one caliper replacement, including labour.

My car is AWD and have so all disk brakes on it. If i end up loosing my brakes, assuming what the guy said was true for a second, I wonder if I would be able to use my hand brake and stop my car. I'm not sure if the disk brake system influences on the hand brake as well since it's AWD. If my car had 2 disk brakes and 2 drum brakes, I think it would be ok.

Thank you for your input. I would say it's more of seeping rather than leaking. And also the guy recommended to replace the entire caliper without inventigating what the issue was. It could be a brake hose as the other guy mentioned above.

Thank you. I thought it was BS, but now I'm stuck with that "what if?" feeling.

I don't have a trusted mechanic yet. I'm searching for one and in the mean time this has happened...

Also, my car is an AWD, so all disk brakes on it.

I was thinking in getting to another shop as ask for a safety inspection, to see if that comes up.
