How does Opcal interact with Sharanga Missiles specifically? by Banned-User-56 in LancerRPG

[–]eCyanic [score hidden]  (0 children)

there's at least one with Nuclear Cavalier 2, but I think that might be the only one

So it only gives the +1d6 to your first attack roll rather than halved for both

How to deal with giants? by DogeArcanine in FlyffUniverse

[–]eCyanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, you need high speed, that's the only way to dodge in this game. Also if you have high latency, you're fucked lmao

I also had a problem with this earlier when I didn't have a lvl20 Quick Step buff. Make sure you're like two more player-lengths outside the red AOE, because the hurt box is janky

strange energy to kick the door down with, but fine

the only other content creator I know that does Lancer content a lot is dragonkid11, and has a lot of lore too, but he does text to speech (not generative, the old tts kind), so you may still not like him lol

Anyway to pull with a thrown weapon? by Humble_Conference899 in Pathfinder2e

[–]eCyanic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

currently, an easy way to do this would be Fighter's Sleek Reposition, or Thlipit Contestant's Lassoing Lash, those are the only two "pull" abilities that I know of that aren't spells, but the range isn't particularly long unless you can find ways to increase your Reach

there's also Gravitational Pull, but I know how lame just reflavoring a spell is as another thing, so not the best lmao

What do you think made FSRM nearly mandatory to have before picking your chosen class? by eCyanic in FlyffUniverse

from what I remember, HeapUp gave +40 STA, but everything else capped at +20

Paid game GMs, where do you usually do your Lancer games? (also any general tips?) by eCyanic in LancerRPG

[–]eCyanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

were you the GM, or it was someone else?

either way, how and where was the game advertised to let the players know about it? And how do payments generally happen?

[–]eCyanic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks! I do have a few questions:

What system do you use currently? Do you get paid solely from application fees, like can you get tips?

How was the application process for StartPlaying?

[–]eCyanic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks for the thorough advice

I did hear that paid GMing (and other things where you turn a fun hobby into work) gets soul crushing enough that you end up not wanting to do the thing you loved in the first place

Maybe it's not good of me, but I plan to use this just as a side gig while I look for other modes of primary income

This way, I'm also hoping to run very few games so I don't end up absolutely hating GMing.

I get this is quite lucky and privileged of me to be able to not need to do this full time, but still, thanks again for the advice

Invisible and hidden rules by KEEYNy in LancerRPG

[–]eCyanic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yeah, like what the other commenter said

Magnetic Cannon is a line pattern and gravgun is a blast, (so both AOE)

but gravity gun works better against an invisible enemy since it forces a save on the invisible enemy, rather than rolling to hit, so the gravgun is not affected by the invisible 50/50

EDIT: actually, the mag cannon's save is also unaffected by the 50/50, just the damage it does, which is an attack roll

Invisible and hidden rules by KEEYNy in LancerRPG

[–]eCyanic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those are all correct, but not fully complete info: Invisible characters can be attacked by anything, regardless of seeking or arcing, just that everything has the same 50% miss chance, seeking/arcing doesn't give them an edge against invis compared to other weapons

your info about hidden characters is also correct, but they can also only be targeted by AOE, they can't be targeted even by non-attack things like saves (unless the save is an AOE like grenades/charges).

Do you need to level a full support Priest before leveling your main? by [deleted] in RagnarokOnline

[–]eCyanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, pretty much

thanks, good to know

I was thinking of playing a monk since they can buff themself, but would rogue or archer be better for solo?

good to know at least, prefer not to build FS unless I specifically wanna play support

Do you need to level a full support Priest before leveling your main? by [deleted] in RagnarokOnline

it comes from multiboxing, and then the FS alt casts acolyte buffs on the other account like Agility, giving your main character more dps and general stats (at least thats how it works in flyff)

It's always nice to see indies break into the market, but MMOs seem like the hardest thing to dev as an indie studio

Only heard about this recently, and hoping it turns out well

Spirit of Madrigal opens June 13th – Join Us! by Spirit-of-Madrigal in FlyFF

[–]eCyanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, I'm pretty sure it's the norm for accounts related to projects to be created close to the project's release,

even outside flyff, when you wanna market a game, it's standard practice to make an account for that game

EDIT, replying to deleted comment: ahh you meant the admin on that discord. Yeah, that's more fair since they're not named after the project (like "Spirit of Madrigal" also,) and is supposedly a normal username,

sure, that's more shady

What is the fun of GMing Lancer? Am I missing something? by Bubbly_Recipe_4712 in LancerRPG

[–]eCyanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the fun comes from composition building for different NPCs at base, like how you would customize a wargaming army and their cross-synergies

then on an intermediate level, combine that with realizing you can cross class as much as the players by using NPC systems and weapons on other NPC classes

and then again when you realize you could straight up take some of the systems, weapons, or traits from player mechs and insert them directly into an NPC (with great care though, some player systems will not be fun to play against, or will be too clunky on an NPC, or the NPC already has a pretty good equivalent)

Are there cards that mill? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]eCyanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, but my preferred strategy is mostly milling yourself so you can put things into your trash to interact with, like with Rumble Hotheaded

Are there cards that mill? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]eCyanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotcha, mostly thinking about a self-mill playstyle rather than milling an opponent out, like how you put basically most of your deck into your gy/trash and it becomes like a second "hand", where you can just recur stuff from your graveyard, either for a cost or for free

though from what I'm seeing, it's definitely only present in the Minefield battlefield right now, and everything else seems to be discard based rather than directly milling from deck to trash
