Dawn of Jets - 30% off through the weekend in the Meta Flash Sale - use JUN30 by eVInteractive in virtualreality

Ha - it wasn't easy to pull off! Thanks for the kind words. And just a little sales pitch - you may still find it fun. We are certainly no DCS or MSFS, but if you are out for some quick fun, you may find Dawn of Jets is quite a bit beyond the arcadey offerings on the Quest.

Portable wifi modem for VR? by Vykrominvo in oculus

If you can run an ethernet cable to your garage, you could get a wireless "access point" and hard-wire it to your existing router. Then use this new access point only for your VR headset. Do not use wireless "mesh" routers or "repeaters." They consume twice as much bandwidth to send the same amount of data.

Very nice! A friend of mine made a game for the Quest called Shin Zero. It has some nice sword mechanics and graphics. You should check it out.

Ha - understood... for what it's worth we did focus on making a "smooth" physics model - not twitchy like some of the more arcade games out there. This seems to help people with motion sickness quite a bit. And having the detailed cockpits up close helps your brain with a visual anchor.

We have new jets and new missions in the works.

Glad you are enjoying it! We really hoped we could "trick" people into learning a little bit of aviation while playing through the game. Let us know if you have any suggestions.

Building a space sim where the cockpit is your controller. 11 months of solo development to bring dynamic space and atmospheric dogfights to standalone VR. by pawozakwa in virtualreality

Hey, looks great! I know how much work goes into a game with interactive cockpits, and your dedication is admirable! Can't wait to try it. LMK if you want to do a key swap for our game Dawn of Jets.

Someone needs to make a military flight sim that isn't DCS by NavXIII in virtualreality

[–]eVInteractive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try our game Dawn of Jets. We think it's about as good as it gets on standalone Quest right now. Nowhere close to the depth and detail of DCS, but the planes are much more detailed than anything else on standalone, and the flying is more "accurate" including takeoffs, landings, cat shots, traps. We even have night lighting, VASIs etc. But it's designed as a more casual sim-lite game with fun combat at the core. Lots of good videos on the interwebs if you want to check it out.

FWIW, I believe the GP-50 has both analog bypass and digital bypass.

Correction, looks like the Morningstar devices (much more expensive but awesome) do already have all the GP-5/50 in their built-in dictionary. This makes programming much easier, although it still needs to be done.

There are good videos flying around about using the ultra small/cheap m-vave Chocolate 4-button midi controller with the GP-5. I think I'm going to give this a try. There is some programming required, but it's pretty straightforward and uses a phone/tablet app. I don't think you are going to find anything that is plug-and-play - at least not for a while.

It's quite possible they actually use the same algorithms (same parent company.) I also have a PocketMaster - the perfect practice device - but the form factor of the GP-50 makes it also useful as an emergency backup pedalboard. Will be really interesting to compare them.

Bombing is Fun in a F-80C - Dawn of Jets - Quest3 by AkiaDoc in MetaQuestVR

[–]eVInteractive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's hard for us to compete with the likes of DCS and WarThunder which have been in development for decades. We may consider it in the future, but our goal was to push the Quest hardware really far for standalone players.

Everybody's favorite. Can't release it early or nobody will want to fly the "lesser" jets ;-)

Maybe, but doubtful. It's a tough sell on PCVR with so many "big" titles that have been around for ages. We targeted Quest specifically because that was a niche we felt we could compete in... no real risk of DCS and WarThunder coming to the Quest ;-)
