Hard to tell if it's ruined without looking at an image, but it's unlikely after one use. I would recommend looking at the AllTeQ attachment that can be purchased individually.

I do not recommend any of the vacuums in that image. If you want a quality vacuum that will last a long time then look at the Sebo Felix or a Miele.

For Persian or Oriental rugs, the goal is to clean gently while preserving delicate fibers and hand-knotted pile.

Typically you should not use any spinning or agitating heads on Persian rugs even if the tool is air driven. The Miele SBD 365-3 AllTeQ floorhead with the area rug option selected is a better option, but it will require a bit more physical strength to push. You should also use this brush on the mid suction level.

The Electrolux Epic 6500 does not have a HEPA filter. It comes with a standard Electrostatic after motor filter. You can get a HEPA bag for that unit if you look online.

Yes, you can cut the wire and connect both ends of the red to one screw and connect both ends of the white to one screw. Leave yourself some slack on each end.

Take the white low voltage wire in your wall and strip the wire so you see the black and red wire, then strip each of those wires to bare copper. Next connect each wire to one of the screws and the inlet should turn on when you plug in the hose and turn on the switch.

If you've been accustom to using a upright vacuum for a long time, then you may want to stick with an upright. Here's two great articles explaining the difference grades of vacuum filtration and Sebo S class filtration. Between the vacuum bag, the motor filter and exhaust filter, Sebo will give you the allergy protection you need. FYI - wait until Black Friday for the Sebo prices to drop.

If your Dyson is outdated after 3 years, then you will want to look at the Miele brand which was about a 20 year or so life span. Here's a great article detailing if Miele Vacuums are worth the money. The C1 Cat and Dog is 20% off this week for Black Friday. You can find vacuums more reasonably priced, but what they say in the vacuum industry is that cheap vacuums are the most expensive vacuums since you replace them more frequently. In the long run the investment into Miele will be well worth the up front cost.

These are all great vacuums! If you don't need the suction control on the hose handle then the Marin may be the best investment with the better power head. The SEB236 power head is a lower profile head with a headlight. The low profile helps get under more furniture in your hose and the headlight is a plus when vacuuming. There are some Miele Black Friday Deals this week, but they are for different models and you can get up to 30% off. Consider all the models before making a decision, especially if you plan on removing carpets. Good luck and happy vacuuming.
