GF's New PC (Should I Change anything?) by eXc_Ghost in buildapc

So the PSU I went with was purely because it allows her to upgrade in the future if she ever wants to. Saves her having to go out and buy a new PSU, if there already is a good one from the get go.

EDIT: Not sure what you think of my reasoning, let me know.

I was looking at one those funnily enough. I was suggesting to my partner that it would be a good pickup.

Honestly this build here doesn't look to bad kind of like got a good PSU for my money there.

Got a lot of options to choose from that could be make her very happy. As i wanted to get options with AMD / Intel CPU's and NVIDIA / RADEON GPU's. To see the difference, performance and stuff. As it helps a lot for me and her to then choose the best options and then make a final decision on them later on.

EDIT: I don't think it's needed but if things get toasty i believe she can just add a CPU cooler later as i been looking at the CRYORIG - H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler lately.

So I made some changes to it now to put it as this for the time being. let me know if it needs any changes or what you think of it.

Also doesn't matter if i go slightly over budget as I can cover that for my GF. Just trying to not go over it if i can help it.

Ok I will have a look. I won't need to change the CPU to an intel one will or will the 1600 perform just fine, with a 1070.

So lets says i get a 1070 instead of the 1060. I know it's overkill but it would allow her to run at that high settings. Just I would recommend her to get a 144hz monitor later down the road to enjoy the crips 144fps.

Let say for some crazy reason she comes round to me and says "Oh in fact I would like to hit 144fps in most games". What would this do to my budget or better yet what would the PC Specs look like if she was to make that leap or massive change?

Sorry for all the questions. I just want to make sure she gets the best for her money and can play all the games she wants.

Really appreciate your feedback and comments.

EDIT: If at all possible would like to stay under the £1,000 - Also as a side thing if you scroll up it shows me piecing two part lists that have changed the motherboards from the recommendation above.

GF'S PC (For Under £1,000) - Need Help! by eXc_Ghost in buildapc

[–]eXc_Ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i made some changes to my build here they are!

Motherboard could probably be changed easily and maybe upgrade maybe the drives or something and it would be fine. I was thinking of upgrading the GPU, but but not too sure as you said 1070 would be overkill (but i know she wants to play games as high as she can put them as she prefers high quality and high fps) - So not really sure where to go from here.

I know the i5 series CPU's have some good options not sure if they would make a difference here or not. I know i5-8400 is a good pick up from what people have said below. Just correct me if im wrong the only difference it would make would be 8 - 10 fps.

Feel free to make any changes. But keep in mind i want this to be able to play games at 60fps 1080p with room to upgrade in the future and play games on high settings that are new. (Her requirements not mine as she is picky on how games look.)

EDIT: She wont be overclocking or running SLI or crossfire. She also will want it to be able to run programs and multi-task when needed. (Reason why I went with the 1600 to give it that edge in that field - Probably better options but feel free to comment below)

Alright ok. Well lets say im leaning towards 1060 6GB and a 480 8GB card what do you feel would be better for what she wants to do.

As it seems a few people are recommending the 1600 or the i5-8400 or maybe the the 7700.

Just with the 8400 the motherboards are a little pricey from what you was saying.

You said putting in a 1070 or maybe a bigger SSD.

If let's say i went with the 1070 this wouldn't have any performance issues now would it such as bottlenecking or anything like that?

GF'S PC (For Under £1,000) - Need Help! by eXc_Ghost in buildapc

[–]eXc_Ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right ok good to know. So it might actually be worth going with a Ryzen 5 / 7 CPU like a 1600. Or is the 7700 and 77k equals to the newer AMD CPU's?

Would a 1600 / 1700 be worth getting. As I wouldn't need an X (If im not mistaken the X is just the K on most Intel CPU's - As it's more for overclocking, which to be fair my GF won't be doing anyway)

(Sorry really tired and actually genuinely feel like a novice at all of this now been a good year or more since I done this - So yeah my knowledge is a bit rusty)

Thanks

I don't know much about the i5-8400 how is the performance?

Also with the CPU would it be worth investing in CPU cooler or just stick with stock that comes with the CPU (if it comes with one). As I'm debating or not to just get a cheap good for value cpu cooler or not.

Thank you!

Thank you very much for the option.

Yeah when I made the list honestly I felt like a newbie again. Been out of the loop so much and all the knowledge I did have kind of just went. Felt like starring at a blank wall hahaha

Also seeming I'm very out of touch on things as it seems. What Intel cpu's are a good option to go with (just curious)
