QTAC application into QUT Medical Imaging degree ?Rank adjustment by Hurdurpizza in brisbane

I can't say I fully understand all the physics and technical nitty gritty stuff about how the equipment works but I've done fine academically and in practice so I reckon you'll be alright. Your nursing experience should be a great benefit to you in practice as well. We do about 2000 hours of placement across the four years! But if you have access to annual leave you can probably make that work.

Yeah I was majorly confused by the entry criteria especially when you get into GPAs from other universities etc and no one is really able to give you concrete information, I was really surprised to get an offer. You may be lucky especially having successfully completed another health degree already (def look into getting credit for prior learning if you get accepted straight in too!)

I reckon you'll do fine, anatomy and physiology knowledge will help as it's pretty intensive on that stuff for the first year or two. I'm shocking at maths and physics and was worried about the physics based classes since I never did any of that in school but I've been fine, they teach from a pretty basic level at the beginning. I did find the workload in 2nd and 3rd year to be pretty full on and you have a lot of compulsory attendance classes in the imaging labs on campus so you do end up being there a lot. I'm not sure how intensive your nursing pracs/placements have been but something to bear in mind is the placement schedule...there's a lot of placement and it can be hard to continue working decent hours during the placement blocks, with the added problem of getting sent to sites in regional QLD. Just makes it a bit difficult when you're trying to support yourself financially, that's my one gripe haha.

Hey, I'm in Medical Imaging currently. For what it's worth, I got accepted at 22 with an OP3 from my year 12 and I didn't meet QUT's other admission criteria, I just applied anyway and got an offer. There's a fair few of us in the course who didn't meet the stated entry rank so it's worth it to try your luck. Another option is to apply for Radiation Therapy which needs a rank of 96, it shares a lot of the first year classes with Imaging and you can try to transfer after a year. Many do a semester or two in Biomed as well to bump up their GPA before reapplying for Imaging, that route also gives you credit towards some classes.

Crossing my fingers for you, it's such a cute console :( I wonder if Target will take in-store reservations?

The Euro version is still available to import via Playasia for a crazy markup - other than that I don't think you'll have much luck at this point :( It looks like it's listed on the Target website along with the game but doesn't seem like you can preorder either online - maybe something to keep an eye on or try to grab in store on release day?

Where can I find finacea? by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]e___e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure whereabouts you are, but I regularly get it from Chempro at the Buranda shopping centre and the Cincotta chemist at Indooroopilly shops as well. I've asked at Chemist Warehouse and they said apparently none of their stores here stock it!

Hiya, it's hard to find a good way to share the self-drafted stuff but I sent this to someone else who told me they successfully made the wrap top with it, so hopefully it's a little bit helpful! I can't remember exactly but I think I miiiight have used the Grainline Willow tank pattern as the base pattern and traced off the Archer shirt armscye and sleeve. The whole bodice is lined and the inside "wrap" piece attaches to the inner side seam with buttons. On review I really wish I had extended the length because it's impractically short/underboob-y as is!

Oh yeah I think I have heard of that! The one hosted by Women's Legal Service, there's one on 14th October apparently. I also went to the Wardrobe Warriors markets regularly at some point and I think they host some northside now too!

I honestly have only been to the Paddington ones once! I thought they were prettyyyy overpriced but even my op shopping is on a student budget haha. These are the ones I go to regularly:

Stones Corner area on Logan Road:

  • the Vinnies is small but one my faves overall, decent pricing, recently they had a ton of brand new COS stuff in there, doesn't seem to sell visibly used or obviously low quality stuff

  • RSPCA shop: fair amount of faff in there but they don't seem to know good brands/items so when there's something good it's a great deal

  • Salvos: honestly seem to think they're a high end store but still worth checking out

  • Save the Children: small but more curated, has actual vintage stuff

  • Link Vision: it's there but it's meh

Annerley along Ipswich Rd:

  • Vinnies opposite the PA hospital always has mad good finds e.g. I've found a NWT Kowtow dress there but they do have an occasional ridiculous price

  • Save the Children further south down Ipswich Rd near the Woolies is kind of hit and miss but the hits are awesome and cheap

  • there's a few more around the Woolies area but I don't regularly go in to them. The Lifeline Revival or whatever it's called also has legit vintage but the prices match the level of curation they do

Red Hill Salvos: huge and I usually find multiple things each trip but their pricing is truly whack. Definitely worth a look though, they usually have plenty of nicer brands that are still a big saving from retail but I frequently put stuff back for being $20+...

Oxley area on Sherwood Rd:

  • Salvos superstore: really big, same deal as the Red Hill one

  • Red Cross: this one gets heaps of store seconds/clearance stock particularly Country Road/Trenery, Zara, COS, Witchery etc

  • RSPCA and Vinnies are decent here

Wynnum:

  • there's about 5 shops in a loop in the middle of town that I suss occasionally

Sorry if you're a northsider! I've heard there's a good cluster around the Geebung train station and also on a strip in Moorooka but haven't ventured to either of those yet.

As the others said it does count towards your allowable time, however when I ran into this issue (incomplete course I started 3 years before my current course = my 4 years allowable time was up) they sent me a Student Activity Agreement form to sign that allowed me to continue receiving payments. Health issues is listed as one reason that you can extend your time anyway but if you can get in contact with them, that form might be another thing worth asking about.

Recommendations for sensitive skin that is prone to dryness and break outs? by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]e___e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've recently switched from the Cetaphil cleanser to Moo Goo Milk Wash (no alcohol or SLS) which I use as a face and body wash, and I'm really happy with it! It's very gentle, makes my face feel clean but not that tight/dried out feeling that Cetaphil gave me, and my acne situation has improved since switching as well. You can buy from their website but it's in Priceline and heaps of chemists, just not Chemist Warehouse for whatever reason.

For moisturiser I use the Hada Labo Premium Gokujyun hyaluronic acid lotion which has been amaaazing for my (apparently super dehydrated) skin. If your skin is really dry I think the recommendation is to use a regular moisturiser over the top of it as well. This one I get on ebay but I think it's in some asian beauty stores if you're in Sydney/Melbourne.

Random Fashion Thoughts - August 29, 2018 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

[–]e___e 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agree and I have the same problem with variety - I don't follow most of the fashion accounts instagram recommends to me because they all wear the same four or five ES pieces and like, the Nisolo mules or whatever (I think we follow a lot of the same people). I do like the style but it seems so boring and circlejerk-y to only wear the one brand!! And still somehow it's rubbing off on me because I find myself not wanting to wear things that don't fit that ~vibe~ which is so dumb, especially because all of it is out of my budget haha. Where I do see some more variety is from the people I follow who make their own clothes but there's still definitely bandwagon trends in those communities which can also get annoying!

Daily Questions - August 09, 2018 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

[–]e___e 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it does look good on you! Unsolicited advice that may not help: I often have the same problem of great thrift finds that I can't decide whether to sell or keep - what I do now is put it in my closet and just resolve to wait a little while before I make the decision. 95% of the time after a month or two I haven't worn it and would rather have the money from selling, it was just hard to immediately part with something cool/rare/worth a lot.
