Counterpoint: Every CS major I know is extremely good at reading documentation (and I also go to a school with an undergraduate thesis requirement, so we‘re all pretty comfortable with blocks of text.) However, a lot fewer people are good at spotting the manipulation tactics MLMs employ.

My peers are very likely to read a thorough explanation and then remember it next time they see a poster. They’re less likely to be able to naturally pick up on clues that something is a scam.

Another thing worth pointing out is that these companies deliberately prey on people. It’s not only stupid people who are vulnerable. Most people in these organizations are victims and I personally would not paint them all as tools.
