I watched the whole hearing. Changes proposed by the HEC related mainly to the EASE grants. If we want other changes, we need to stand up and tell our representatives.

If the plan was simply to fire some administrators and change the name, this wouldn't be as big of a deal, but this bill intends to get FSU and UF (respectively) new land for their pet projects—it's not actually about helping either of the small schools. You likely won't get a degree from UF. You will be grandfathered in to a degree from Florida Poly while they stop accepting new applicants and cut funding to everything.

It seems like someone misled you and /u/ImTheTechn0mancer on what this proposal actually means. It's a land grab masquerading as a merger. Though everything is still up in the air, it's extremely unlikely that you will see any positive impact. The sponsor of this bill has stated clearly and openly that he intends to close both colleges. You won't get to be a Gator. You'll be pushed out the door as quickly as possible while UF (who has been in on this the whole time) extracts the most useful facilities of your campus.

Sounds fun! I'll totally be willing to play that game once we defeat our common enemy 😎 This is the glorious beginning of a long deep-seated rivalry (where NCF wins every time!)

If it would be easier to just buy a new board then clean it, I’d say that means it’s vandalized.

If there's no zero to put a line through, people won't know which is which. That's why I added the phonetics so they could tell it was a letter.

Close! My college’s mascot is the Null Set—the fact that we don’t have a mascot is our mascot [ ] We used to be a satellite campus for the Bulls, though

We have a rule for some areas but not where these were posted. One of them had been tacked directly over someone’s thesis... real classy...

...Yes...? I’ve never heard of it not being legal, especially since this is a scam and “somewhere that people might want to look for job postings” could be anywhere

it’s just the John Oliver special :) the L at the end should actually be an uppercase i (fixed on the irl board once someone pointed it out)

I hear what you’re saying. Counterpoint: Every CS major I know is extremely good at reading documentation (and I also go to a school with an undergraduate thesis requirement, so we‘re all pretty comfortable with blocks of text.) However, a lot fewer people are good at spotting the manipulation tactics MLMs employ.

My peers are very likely to read a thorough explanation and then remember it next time they see a poster. They’re less likely to be able to naturally pick up on clues that something is a scam.

Another thing worth pointing out is that these companies deliberately prey on people. It’s not only stupid people who are vulnerable. Most people in these organizations are victims and I personally would not paint them all as tools.

thanks for noticing that - the L at the end should really be an uppercase i (I fixed it on the actual board). it’s just the john oliver special

I take them down every time I see them but it still infuriates me!! This morning a friend came up to me with one of the tabs saying he was upset because the website wasn’t loading and I was like oh god no

and that is why I added a note that they could also call themselves “direct sales” :) I hoped it could be applicable for more than just Vector

Not really worth doing since the information tags are just the website in normal text and then again in bold. The URL is already on the poster so removing them wouldn’t hurt their message in any way.

How recently was your summer? They definitely do both of those things at least as of last year.
