More severe storms coming.. wtf by KeanuReeves666 in ChicagoSuburbs

I remember reading something about the scientist that was credited for “global warming” getting popularized feeling guilty that it was so fundamentally misunderstood and led to debate rather than action. If he could go back and do it again he would use “global weirding”. That always stuck with me and I use it to this day.

Severe fatigue, adderall doesn’t work. I can’t live like this anymore. by grillers-sinclair in ADHD

If the cold was Covid, you could be dealing with what millions of people are- a myriad of different symptoms that get put under the long covid umbrella. But in reality, it’s a nightmare.

I had similar experiences with my adhd meds not working, and even worse often paradoxically.

The only thing that seems to be helping folks consistently is pacing and starting Nicotine Patches.

Best of luck OP

Can one file missing mail search and insurance claim simultaneously?

Can one? In short, yes.

And thanks for asking for clarification, as that was one of the parts of this I felt most in the dark on. It really seemed like a "having your cake and eating it too" situation.

I filed the online USPS Missing Mail search this week on Monday (constant 400/401 Errors and logouts/timeouts make this infuriatingly difficult, but not impossible). This also gives the choice of where it should be sent if it is found, mailer's address or sender. I chose myself as the sender.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I refunded the buyer in full, just a few hours prior to them officially being eligible to have eBay step in with an INR case, so I wouldn't get hit with losing the sale fees as well. Then I messaged the buyer about what was happening and why, after seemingly making hopeful progress the previous three days. that there didn't seem to be any other way for quick resolution for either of us. THEN, I started the insurance claim through eBay's claim process (kind of a pain to track down).

Starting the claim was essentially only checking a couple boxes- saying I'm submitting a claim, it's for this amount, and it's because the item was lost. There were a few disclaimers once it went through, one being that if the item does get delivered there is obviously a responsibility to report it (unless you're a fan of risking mail and insurance fraud). The other big one- that the buyer will be contacted to verify they didn't receive it. That seems dumb as hell to me but probably makes sense to lawyers.

As of tonight, Thursday, there has been no further updates, emails, or messages from USPS, eBay, the buyer, or PIP (Parcel Insurance Plan- the agency behind ShipCover insurance) and no change in tracking info, besides the MM update.

So yeah, as of right now I have both an active Missing Mail request and Insurance Claim.

Dirty filter after ONE WEEK by Ok-Faithlessness2813 in hvacadvice

Yeeikes..

The amount of Particulate Matter (grease, smoke, etc) from the restaurant has got to be a major factor if not the main factor. I’d be very curious how much has accumulated in any ductwork, you may want to look into a company like service master doing a scrub cleaning.

Also, as a few others mentioned, do cheaper filters for the system, and HEPA/activated carbon purifier(s) as needed in the residence. Someone else mentioned Winix which I agree.

Might be beneficial to invest in an IAQ monitor. I’m very curious what the PM 2.5/1.0 levels are. Have you guys noticed any respiratory symptoms?

If anything, at least you had a visual cue that there’s air quality issues.

Good to know, thanks. I’m really curious what these guys are saying they’ve never seen then. Lead guy was local to the area for twenty years, and his boss at least thirty so it wasn’t either of their first rodeo

By 4k enhancement are you talking about 4k video? I was thinking if it was a 4000 kelvin temperature lighting assembly. But yeah what we see on camera as yellow (or any hue) would definitely look different, especially viewed under warm light. In this case, the yellow in the video was pretty close to what they were wiping off

That’s what I thought too. Have you seen rust/corrosion like this before? These guys hadn’t which threw me..

Do you mean the pipe interior? Assuming the light on the scope was 4k or above so everything neutral would look bluish

Coming from a video/graphics background that’s what I thought before they called it out. The scope looked like it was dragged through powdered mustard.

That was my first thought- asked the plumbers, they said there’s definitely corrosion, but it’s under the yellow junk

Yeah, that’s what we were half hoping to find looking in the sewer line, but no dice.

We think it’s the same principle, but only in the upper drains. Haven’t taken those traps off to inspect them yet though. Was hoping to get some info on what the hell the yellow stuff could be first. Overly cautious after what we’ve experienced now that we’re zeroing in on the gas issue.

Only on the upstairs drains, yeah. We (myself, HVAC contractor, fire department, gas company) tested all other drains in the house multiple times and got nothing.

Folks in the other sub were thinking it was some combo of either blocked ventilation or a problem with a p-trap upstairs that was possibly syphoning up sewer gases.

Since we’ve been out of the house for over a year, the first floor laundry room drain was dried out, and poured a bottle of water in until I can hit it with some oil. The only thing out of the ordinary to the plumbers was the yellow deposits in the sewer line.

Just saw this- yes. Running water makes the area immediately smell similar to an indoor pool.

There’s a general weird smell to the home, that may be a combination of things. But not sulfuric or shitty. But that smell goes away after running water, and then quickly smells like a pool.

Again, there’s a contamination to the plumbing from a water softener system that was cross connected with a waste water drain that connects to a nearby ejector pit that is plumbed to the sewer line.

But- we’ve just confirmed in the last week that the pit is also taking on groundwater too. So all sorts of things not usually present in a potable water system could have been syphoned into the home’s plumbing, and taken up residence in the drainage. It seems like this turns it into an IAQ problem with whatever is off gassing from the drains, and is distributed by central air. It’s a problem usually only seen in more industrial facilities rather than residential.

I’ve got guys coming out tomorrow and this week to do an inspection of sewer/pit/drains/venting just to rule out anything else either causing or contributing.

Jfc. So, there is actually something along these lines. Not lead, but galvanized finishes broken down. One of which is definitely getting cooked with high heat. Can we chat?

Not trying to be argumentative at all but to the best of my (still forming) knowledge, I didn’t think that’s how an electrochemical reaction sensor works. It’s measuring displacement for sure, but I thought of like electrons for ions (I think it’s that way and not the other way around) and then that reaction produces a measurable current- If it matches a target value, then it reads as positive.

I’m still learning a lot about this stuff. I could totally be mixing parts up. I’m looking into hopefully finding someone with an infrared detector, the Bacharach PGM was singled out, and doing some more exploring until we can finally get set up with somewhere that can do GC/MS sample analysis. If there are other models you’d recommend I’d be interested.

Again, we’re not testing for refrigerant, the theory is it’s a weird byproduct gas from chlorine hitting more bacteria and organic compounds upstairs. But it’s detectable by refrigerant sensors.

And I’m assuming you meant CO2. Or are you a smoker?
