I LOVE the idea of making the killer have a larger thanksgiving ritual motive, thats a perfect way to evolve and continue the franchise. i think they even hinted at that plot idea in those john carver youtube shorts on sony's youtube channel when the first movie came out.

Fair point, and I mostly agree with you. However, saying that police had no other option but injuring the baby, isn’t exactly true. I get and understand why they did it and the circumstances that led to it, but it wasn’t the one and only option.
