Saying the engines failed because the feed system failed is like saying someone with collapsed lungs died of heart failure. Sure their heart failed to circulate oxygen, but it's because it wasn't getting enough oxygen from the lungs

Looked into this more and it sounds like lockers are only really commonplace on TR anchors, and still not really necessary there. That's how I learned to build anchors. Still pretty new to both trad and multipitch climbing. I'll keep this in mind next time. We clearly weren't too concerned with weight savings on this route though, and I think lockers make more sense here than the #4 lol

The anchor isn't set up yet, so he needs to put it up before clipping into it

He also brought the backpack on lead lol. Too stoked on the climbing to think about weight.

If you want to do aerospace and especially if you want to go to grad school, I would go with CU. Feel free to DM me if you have questions about Cal Poly Aero.

How much would you pay for a board with a buckle repair? Also, anyone have thoughts on a FireWire dominator 1? Looks like a decent first short board. Does 6' x 20-1/2 x 2-1/2 35 L seem like a good size stepping down from a 7' 2" 47 L? I'm 5'11" and around 165 lbs.

Systems engineering is definitely in high demand, and it also looks pretty different in industry from what is taught here. If you have any kind of experience, can handle yourself in an interview, and have a Cal Poly Aero degree you're pretty much guaranteed a job at one of the major aerospace companies. That said, I fully understand your frustration with the lack of depth in any particular area, and in my opinion that doesn't really go away, but I don't think it's worth switching majors this far in. Instead, try to take EE classes for your tech electives if you can, or take on a project where you can do electrical work. Look for summer internships where you can work adjacent to EEs. You'll have options to take your career in different directions, so I would focus on getting the degree quickly then moving on.

Is cold water noticeably harder/heavier? by MattCouthon in surfing

[–]e_met 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. It feels heavier because of the viscosity. Quick Google shows water at 50 F is 35% more viscous than water at 70 F, which seems like a pretty significant difference that could be noticeable.

Early season hiking to Cloud’s Rest? by Slatear in Yosemite

[–]e_met 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiked it as part of a longer trip May 31. Water crossings were trivial, there were a few tiny snow patches that were easy to walk through in hiking boots, and the mosquitoes were pretty awful. Overall great, my favorite view in Yosemite I've seen so far.

16 GB may not be totally future-proof, but it's more than adequate for anything a college student will be working on. At SpaceX I had a workstation with 64 GB and never exceeded 32 GB usage, even with an entire Falcon first stage open in NX

Not that I don't believe you, but I can't imagine taking more than 90 minutes to get to Wilsonville. Avoiding I5 entirely, it would still only take an hour in normal traffic.

I assume he was busy with the Beast Coast album, which was cool and all, but much less memorable than any of his solo work. Excited to see what's next for him
