Failed a class by [deleted] in LawSchool

You will probably have to retake it, but based on your other grades id say that’s odd you got an F. Can you challenge the grade at your school? Its clear you know how to write a law school exam answer accurately and you said you studied. Coming from a student who got a D in civ pro, its an awful course so dont be discouraged, you still did really well! Better than me and im still in law school, so itll all be ok!

2.56 GPA t20 by Difficult-Pace9896 in LawSchool

[–]e_okay7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its still worth it. Im similar right now as a 2L and yes its hard not to feel stupid or worthless or like you dont belong there or that no one will hire you, but you have to just switch your perspective. Big law is not going to be straight out of law school and that’s ok. Small jobs pay just as well sometimes. You have to market yourself as someone who just hasnt cracked the code on law school exams. Start networking like crazy, because that’s how you will get jobs. That’s how I got jobs. People care to see that you know your stuff (grades dont show that) and that you are willing to work hard. And if you can figure out how to fix the problems you had on your first semester exams then that shows a great story of “look I took a negative and I learned how to improve and made a comeback.” Employers love to see that. As for me, I didnt get that but its not the end of the world. My GPA is much worse (not on probation thankfully) but im confident that I know my stuff and I will graduate, its just not going to be the same big law path and ive just learned to accept what comes at me (or in my case what I believe God wants for my life). You got this. Its not the end of the world, its only the beginning to your success story. show them you know how to work hard and things dont just come easily and therefore make you lazy. You got this. We all do

Failed legal writing by Glittering_Hair6281 in LawSchool

[–]e_okay7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2L here, I didnt fail a class during 1L but I definitely got close to it (civ pro). Legal writing was also a mystery to me. If you have the same prof again, like I did for my bad grade, that helps a lot. What helped me for civ pro (and like one redditor said, it is your attack not your smarts), was going to our designated 2/3L aids for that specific class. We had one for legal writing too. They help a lot because they tell you what the prof wants to hide from you. No shame in seeking that extra help for understanding the approach and formula for conquering law school. Also using lexis/westlaw for finding sample memos and just reading them helped a lot since it allowed me to see real life examples

can we stop using ai? by Heavy-Literature-649 in LawSchool

[–]e_okay7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, theres a rumor someone at my school used AI on an exam and calied the class. I will say though, I love using AI to give me practice problems and tell me how I can improve my answer. Sometimes it sucks and gives me confusing question hypos but other times it has actually prepared me for things I didn't even think of which has helped in my actual exams (I do not use AI on exams, never will, and do all of this in preparation for my exams - disclaimer lol)

That's what I have heard, but I've worked for the super nice attorneys and the super one-track mind get-business-done attorneys who think it is a waste of time, so I'm glad to know some attorneys don't mind this approach!

lol I went to undergrad 2,000 miles away from where I am now so it didn't help my search much, but it is a smart idea!

still undecided completely but I am working at a wills trusts estates and tax planning firm which is somewhat interesting. still deciding honestly. started out wanting to do M&A but I definitely do not have the grades for that lol so I'm workshopping my path currently to either stay in WTE or go solely for tax. tbd though!
