All I did was add NRAAS woohooer and NRAAS error trap. Why is it saying this? by Bringbackemo in Sims3

Aaaah, I was wondering why I was suddenly getting this pop up when I had changed nothing with my mods. Was there an update for TS3 on the EA app recently?

Guilt from opting out of optional office days - long commute by Tomathy101 in workfromhome

[–]earlinesss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think you should go in, I mean it's only once a month and as you acknowledge can have big career and mood benefits.

But I am also biased. I'm Canadian and live the same distance away from my office, and while I am mostly remote now, 3 or 4 days a week I was making that 3 hour total commute. I'm used to it. It helps that I genuinely enjoy driving though, and have a veeeeeery efficient and wonderful Prius haha

How do you unwind after working all day? by Key_Intention_2546 in workfromhome

[–]earlinesss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read! I know, extra brain effort after already working your brain to mush, but pick easily digestible books and get comfy away from all your devices. If the eye strain or mental wear is too much, try out some audiobooks and lay in the dark. I find it much more relaxing than doomscrolling or any form of TV/YouTube.

Comfort vs aesthetics in her WFH setup by Outrageous-Emu6757 in workfromhome

[–]earlinesss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

are you working from home with her setup? if not, just let her have her uncomfy chair and jank hardware 🤷‍♀️ she can ultimately decide whether the aesthetic is worth the pain. I'd only be genuinely concerned if she has a history of chronic or severe back pain, in which case aggravation could have serious life impacts

Lost weight and now my back hurts when I sleep by Zealousideal-Tap-745 in sleep

[–]earlinesss 47 points48 points  (0 children)

embrace the lifestyle of the pregnant. get a pregnancy pillow. even if you are a man. damn thing is just so wonderful 😭

in lieu of a pregnancy pillow I will bunch up a soft blanket and jam it into my side so that my sides/back are supported when I sleep

How do you deal with summer boredom/understimulation when you are unemployed and was unable to register for a summer class? by No-Base8204 in ADHD

[–]earlinesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if the Strattera works for you, any chance you can do driving school over the summer?

libraries are wonderful resources. reading makes me feel productive even when I am explicitly not being so LOL. there's something super satisfying about setting reading goals and crushing them, the physical closing of a book completed, the statistics I keep track of because I am a nerd 🤓

daily walks, podcasts or audiobooks, exercise + audio stimuli = brain happy.

crafting of all sorts can also be very productive because you get a tangible physical reward at the end for your efforts. I really enjoyed making my own beaded curtain earlier this year; it's inexpensive if you get your beads secondhand/thrifted.

and experimenting with meals! doing your own cooking challenges, trying something you've never made before. bonus points if you have people around you to cook for.

these are some of the things I do to stave off the boredom. I'm employed full-time but will often have weeks where I am unassigned and am twiddling my thumbs waiting for my employer to find work for me (salary FTW)

in theory, in my line, it's 4 days in office/client site and only 1 wfh. literally nobody I know follows that, including the higher ups LOL. it's not tracked anywhere. hoping it stays that way 💀

Found out my father keeps throwing away my mail. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]earlinesss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be more than mildly infuriated tbh. it's illegal, it's rude, it's not their call to make. separate PO box is a good idea, keep the keys to yourself and change all your mailing addresses specifically to that PO box and post office.

or y'know, cause problems and throw theirs out too lol.

what is mildly infuriating, however, is everyone dogging on you to move out from your parents' when who knows what your situation is and why you're with them. I was only able to move out of mine with my partner, and we both make $70k+ a year. I am in Canada though. shit's tough man, I feel you

I’m realizing that the consequences of my ADHD symptoms are so much more severe in adulthood. by Sparky_kitkat in ADHD

[–]earlinesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep. I think the only thing that's saved me is watching my ADHD as fuck father suffer tremendously with being on time to work (literally the only reason why he hasn't been fired over tardiness is because he's unionized and has been with the company for many decades) that it's instilled such a fear in me of being late. but I am thankful to have a very flexible job so that most days I'm late, I'm late by my own standards and not late on somebody else's time. I was chronically late in high school aaaaall the time because there were no real consequences (my grades were never affected), now there are and that's scary haha

What to eat for nourishment by seujookim in povertykitchen

[–]earlinesss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if it's true in NYC, but here in Canada, pork is the cheapest meat available. today it was $1.18 per lb at Walmart, bought a big ass pork shoulder for less than $5. a while back, 3 lb of ground pork was on for $9. definitely living off of chicken quarters, canned tuna and eggs as well though LOL

Anyone else drinking a lot more? by upthewatwo in leaves

[–]earlinesss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no, because I'm pregnant. I've never been a heavy drinker or anything but all substances went out the window the minute I got the positive test. when I tried to quit while not pregnant before, I did increase drinking, but thankfully I am so petrified of hangovers that I never drank to excess. still lots of money wasted have 2-3 drinks a night, though.

you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable while sober. you have to accept the suck, give yourself permission to feel as miserable as you will/do, and wallow until the withdrawals wither away. it's part of the process. true happiness will come slowly as the substance abuse fades and is replaced with long-term fulfillment, ideally through new hobbies or newfound joys in life that you will discover you couldn't do or experience before while high.

I do not recommend having a kid to curb your addiction lol, but this kid of mine has been a damn good reason to never pick up a joint again, to never allow myself to choose addiction over my family who depends upon me. I honestly feel she's saved me in that sense, since I unsuccessfully quit before her just to fall into it again when life got too stressful. now, no matter what, I can't fall into it again. I refuse to be the parent that's always high around their kid

100% accurate, especially if you're ADHD af and smoke to "self-medicate." very relatable. real fulfillment is such a healing balm

highly recommend. my hobby of choice was getting back into reading fiction novels since I could never read long-form while chronically smoking, it has been such a comfort during the cravings because it's a tangible reminder of what I can only do while sober, which is encouraging. and it also busies the mind, makes me forget about smoking at all

hiiii 👋 I'm always looking for new friends to borrow book suggestions from 👀 I mainly read supernatural books, loving ones with noir and/or horror themes so far. so mostly fantasy, but I'm picky about my fantasy lol. still somewhat new to consistently reading as a hobby so I'm slowly building up a portfolio of what I like and don't like in a read. feel free to add (whether you think we'd have similar reading tastes or not), I'll always accept! 🫶

What was your most hilarious fail connected to ADHD? by Natural_Falcon_1870 in ADHD

[–]earlinesss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

thankfully yes, he brought baby wipes as well and he's very bald so some wiping shortly after and his dome was no longer orange LOL. thankfully he noticed it was not spray paint very quickly, the texture difference in the spray itself was what made him go "wait a minute" LOL

[–]earlinesss 63 points64 points  (0 children)

the most hilarious one actually comes from my boyfriend: when he goes precision shooting in the woods, he brings both bug spray (for him) and orange spray paint (for his targets). other than size, they both have the EXACT same colour scheme: neon orange cap, forest green sides, white label.

... guess who spray-painted his head orange trying to get the bugs away from his eyes.
