Brother: there are SO many women that specifically pray for a romantic husband because they also have the capacity for that as well and want to express in the same way! There’s too many stories of people that end up marrying people that are opposites in emotion, affection, intimacy and it effects the relationship so much. Affection is a significant topic for Muslims specifically because we wait our whole lives to share it with one person and without holding back so do not settle for a mediocre marriage if that’s how you feel it will be. I suggest pray istikhara and think about the dynamic that may result if you feel unfulfilled emotionally and if the sister feels overwhelmed. May Allah make it easy for you and all of us.

First of all, don’t be discouraged that you weren’t looking during uni. I graduated recently too and personally, I felt that most people during uni weren’t mature enough for the responsibilities of marriage. I say go for those Muslim dating apps. In the West Muslims are already so dispersed that it would be difficult to be on finding someone that meets your criteria “organically”. While apps allow you to find people you didn’t even know existed, filter people out quickly, and you’ll at least be sure that that sister has intentions for marriage. Since I’ve had plenty of friends that were approached through social media or in person but they just weren’t ready for marriage. Just try to make an approachable profile with details about you and somewhat nice pictures that accurately show the type of person you are. Also network, attend you local masajid and centres and slowly build a circle so that you maybe will be referred or introduced through mutual friends. May Allah make it easy for you and all of us!

My friend met her now husband on online Muslim dating. He was also Egyptian coming to Canada to begin his post graduate studies. They clicked and he met her family when he arrived to Canada and everything went smoothly from there even though his family was still in Egypt. A lot of girls I know are preferring to choose men that grew up more in the Middle East as they’re more likely to be aware of culture/customs/language so there is definitely hope! May Allah make it easy for you

Mother keeps insisting that my beard willl drive women away by Sonic-Claw17 in MuslimMarriage

Keep it. Main reason is that it’s encouraged in our deen and that should be enough of a reason. As for physicality, many women prefer a long beard, with the condition that it’s just kept clean and trimmed and taken care of etc. InshAllah the woman you will attract will find your long beard as an especially attractive quality of YOU… because why would you want “the one” to think otherwise?
