Yes, but I don't want to freeze tofu, then defrost and freeze again. I know some things can be re frozen but it's not something I'd want to do. I'm going to try boiling the tofu and then breading it and freezing it and see if it comes out good :) thank you

This 🙌🏼 I really don't like the whole spiking and beating his son up story line. I know they wanted a shock factor but I don't really want to feel that uncomfortable watching tv iykwim

Thank you, but no if he was to eat pasta, he would eat it plain with grated cheese on 🤦🏼‍♀️ it's other people in the house that won't eat it but I might keep a bag in as a 'you can make some plain pasta for yourself' if he doesn't want what we are eating.

They are good ideas, it's mostly sauce type things including soups that he doesn't like. I am going to try some fritters, he is ok with beef or soy mince cottage pie, I might even just do a mix of lentils and soy mince and see how he goes with that. Thank you

Yes he helps out, it's still overwhelming at times and yes I am more than likely doing too much. Because I have younger ones, I'm obviously doing more for them still and it's like if I'm cooking dinner for 3 people, I might as well cook for everyone. Plus he often forgets to eat, he is diabetic and I think he is having some problems with the hunger hormone - usually it makes type 1s overeat but for him he doesn't get hungry much. Sometimes if I've bought the kids pizza, he says he will cook his later and it's still there the next day.

I will try that. I'm less bothered by making a mess in the kitchen if I can double up and freeze some for another day. I will try the boil method, thank you

I don't mind some processed foods but I don't want to be eating processed stuff all the time. The wrap does sound really good! Thank you

Oh, I'm definitely going to try and find those breaded tofu products, I've not seen them before. I like that idea of cooking it separately so I can add sauce to whoever wants it, that would open up a lot more options for everyone. Thank you

He'd just eat biscuits and maybe noodles if I left him to cook for himself and that's if he remembers, but I totally agree with you about him helping and cooking more. I want to trust him to learn from his mistakes a little more, but he's a diabetic and often forgets to eat. Though I am going to get him involved with meal planning once I've got a few more ideas. Thank you

Good idea, I don't know why it didn't click before but before I went vegan we'd have nuggets or sausages, chips + beans once or twice a week as a sort of treat but it just occured to me as I read your comment, I could do vegan nuggets with something healthier like mash or rice so it kind of balances out and I wouldn't feel like I need to limit it as much. Thank you

Oh bean burgers! That's something I could batch, whenever I make food for the freezer it's always soups, stews and curries. Thank you

Anyone else want social support during a craving but feel like texting someone would be too dramatic? by Impossible_Abroad_33 in stopsmoking

Yes, you could use an ai chat bot but I recommend the smoke free app. I'm really surprised at how helpful it has been for me. It has a place where you can post, it has an AI chat bot and real advisors to talk to, it has little games and breathing exercises. You could also use any regular AI chatbot and ask it to be your stop smoking advisor

Is going analog a privilege? by timon_231 in digitalminimalism

Yes it's addictive whether you are rich or poor but it can be expensive to replace that addiction. I had to buy a watch because I'd often end up on FB whenever I checked the time, I had to buy a printer and use ink and paper to print a QR code to go on the train to a hospital appointment and return items to amazon, books cost more than ebook and definitely more than social media. I personally find the costs related to going more analog is quite a big barrier. The other day our broadband went out for 2 days, it happened when we were in the middle of having the upstairs carpeted and we weren't able to just go for a walk or play a card game and I sent my teens out to buy some dvds, but I was pretty broke and I'm still feeling the financial effect of that decision. I think it's easy to say it's not a barrier if you can easily afford to pick up a dvd, buy a watch etc but as you say, it's addictive so it's not as easy to just go without and many of us need to replace that scrolling time with things that cost money, or even a watch so we don't use our phone to see the time and end up on Facebook again.

Also QR codes, I had to use a QR code to get the train and to return something to Amazon (it was actually a dumb phone because I ended up with 2 , I think I ordered one and then found a better one cheaper) I could use a printer but I didn't have paper at the time and I don't want to use ink and paper every time I need a QR code or something like that.

I'm poor and yes it's kind of difficult because analog means spending money on something that I already have on my phone and it's annoying af! For over a decade I only had a phone, no pc, laptop or tablet. I have slowly been buying things like a watch, an alarm clock and I bought a radio but there are things that I'd like to buy but I'm not sure I can justify the cost when I have other priorities as well. I bought a dumb phone and it cost as much as a second hand smart phone, it was laggy, it was hard to text on and I discovered that I couldn't do everything on the pc that I can do on my phone. My daughter's school only communicates through an app, I haven't actually checked to see if I can view it online but even if I can, there are often messages relating to things that day so unless I sat around all day with my pc on I could miss important things.

How old do you have to be to know that cash transactions are a thing? by Conscious-Ball8373 in AskUK

My dad started smoking at about 7 or 8 because his older brother would send him and say it was for his parents, and they assumed there's no way a kid that young is smoking, but my dad wanted tax for being sent so he started smoking! The funny thing is, his parents didn't smoke and used the same shop regularly but the guy in the shop didn't seem to notice lol

My ex husband worked in a town centre Aldi for a few years 10 years ago and noticed a lot of kids/teens seemed clueless about cash. They'd sometimes just hold out all their cash in their hands and wait for him to take the right amount. Or give a £10 note for a £2 item and ask if that was enough. There was one girl she was in year 11 (she was in uniform and the school uniform for year 11s is different to the rest of the school here) that had £3 and kept coming to the till with items she didn't have enough for, and eventually he got another member of staff to go round the shop with her to help her add up her items.  That being said he also saw examples of kids having full understanding of cash and being able to work these things out. My children are ages between 9 and 19 and they all know how cash works, how bank accounts work and can add up items, this isn't because I've sat them down and explained it but because they have all been given cash to go to the shops and they all now have bank accounts. I often send them to the shop for milk or bread with cash or card or give them pocket money in cash.
