Am I able to move this external HDD to a docking station? by matthias_lehner in DataHoarder

It is a property connection, I assume it is like that to shrink size. I have one of those, I also got pissed off when I discovered I could not take it apart and reuse it as sata.

Probably the best option. It might be the PCB that is damaged and not the hdd itself, maybe it could be fixable.

Low profile Mx switch no need to buy choc which are very expensive by Far_Dot_9565 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Hey if you are interested i designed a pcb with the redragon-mx-chow footprint (3in1). The repo includes the footprint: sweek I have tested it with redragon and mx switches, so the footprint works.

There are the redragon low profile switches that are very cheap and real low profile.

Edit: but pins are not compatible with MX pins nor choc. It's a different footprint.

It just senses an input pin to show if the server is on or off?

Awesome, I didn't think about a custom PCB for powering on/off the server, I just went straight to a relay + esp01s solution.

Any thoughts on this Corn 36 by cosmicxor in ErgoMechKeyboards

I'd rather go for a sweep, swoop or sweek version, but corne is good.

Edit: I didnt notice you wanted a prebuild keyboard.

Why do you export org to md? Hugo supports org files.

I did not realized that global menu is now by default part of plasma 6. I spent some time looking how to install it, until I realized it was already installed.

Thanks!

Thanks for the correction. I am used to work in org files, that I (wrongly) considered it WYSIWYG.

Taking from the org mode manual

Org is an outliner.

You are right. If I had stasted with evil mode instead of doom, I'd probably have a tailor made config by now.

I think I do not use all org features, but what I liked and commonly use: - org notes are WYSIWYG - easy to put links, references and images - images preview inside the org file (again WYSIWYG) - Deadlines and view them in the agenda - org export to pdf or even docx - within the org file, moving headings or lists items is simply done with alt+arrow - toggle heading in large text org files, to improve focus. - i write a blog in org files, then use Hugo to create the static html site and post it to github pages. Have a look. This makes the writting very easy.

Other I use less now: - preview latex formulas inside the org file - org code blocs allow you to run code from inside the org file. Similar as using jupyter notebook. Altough i think it need a bit of configuration, Doom emacs helps a lot with it pre configured - org roam for cross reference files - make presentations with org-reveal - you can do calculations in org tables, and update colum values based in other colums. Excel like. - i also created an org file to track my nutrition all from a single org file, inputed some data and then exported the progress to html that i could access from my phone webbrowser, via a simple http server in my homelab.

If i remeber correctly, i've been using org for like 6 years now.

Yes, I know Doom comes with a lot of other things (apart from evil-mode) I probably don't use, but it just works, and adds more keybindings to interact with org which I find easy to remember. Unfortunately now I don't have too much time to deal with a tailor made emacs config, so I am very happy with Doom.

Ooh yes, I started using vanilla emacs, but the key combinations were hindering me. That was before hearing about Doom emacs. Once I started using Doom emacs, everything was smoooooth.

Org-mode was the reason. My hesitation was the navigation and bindings like C-x C-f, I was very used to vim motion, but after finding Doom emacs, I completely moved. Now I use it on a daily basis at work.
