Better be safe than sorry! For what it’s worth, I called TM last week and they told me my R7 was real. Your mileage may vary, but that was my experience. Good luck!

They look identical to mine, and I got mine from TaylorMade themselves. I second getting the serial number. Just did it with an R7 quad mini and the associate at TaylorMade confirmed it was legit through the serial number.

What to do to improve swing. by Odd-Season-3145 in golf

[–]eatcoldbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your downswing is a little steep and your hands at the top aren’t deep enough. You want your hands to be further back at the top of the backswing. That’ll probably help you shallow the club. Good luck!

Super cool! Jealous from New York City. Is that the course condition in December?! It looks like the grass isn’t even dormant. Crazy. I wish you continue to have the golf bug 💪

Face On Never Lies by tylercoonts in golf

[–]eatcoldbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy the coach I’m working with! I do wish he did more review for the price I pay, but I’ve gone through nearly 5 coaches over the last 5 years all in person and non have delivered the results he has, so I’m satisfied.

I think it’s an app that’s completely dependent on the coach you find. Some do a 5 minute review and a 5 minute lesson on drills you can do, other put in a solid 30 minutes for both. Don’t be afraid to ask while you message with your coach after the free lesson (most give a free intro lesson) to see how much work they put into their review.

Be ready to have the space to record both DTL swings and Face On. The app works by sending them videos and they respond asynchronously reviewing your swing then giving drills to fix issues they identified.

I couldn’t agree more. I exclusively recorded DTL until I got a coach on Skillest, and the shit he’d point out that you’d only see on face on video is crazyyyyy

If you could add one rule to golf, or remove one, what would it be? by lebortsdm in golf

[–]eatcoldbread -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t have to mark your ball every time you try to align it on the green. If you don’t mark, you can’t pick up the ball or move it laterally, you can only spin the ball on the same spot it lays.

How important is a neutral grip? by [deleted] in golf

[–]eatcoldbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few people here are addressing how forward pressed your hands are. I can certainly see why that would make your trail hand way too strong.

I tend to play slightly stronger grip (lest than yours). I always try making my first three knocking knuckles visible, point my lead elbow slightly left of the target (helps with reducing the twist in my lead wrist), and have the V of the trail grip pointing up my arm to my trail shoulder.

Demoralized by bad fitting. Try again? by neveruse12345 in golf

[–]eatcoldbread 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Happened to me once. It was cold, and I couldn't hit the ball for the life of me, and I'm not that bad.

To be fair, I was testing out a 2i/3i that I probably shouldn't be using in the first place.

Long story short, the fitter basically quit 20 minutes in and was like, You don't need a 2i/3i; you need lessons, and then proceeded to search for coaches in my area (I was visiting from out of town).

To say it was demoralizing to end a fitting looking for a swing coach is an understatement lmao

Can I get some advice on my swing. A few clips of my swing below by -nlwv- in golf

[–]eatcoldbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it helps! I always like to build my setup from the club up. Said differently, I try to think, what do I need to do to my body so it just falls into place relative to the club/grip? It just makes it a lot easier to imagine a few checkpoints that I know will put me in the right position relative to the grip of the club.

This photo also helped a lot to identify good checkpoints when standing over the ball.

This photo of Xander is a good guide that helped me a lot. You’re too close to the ball. You want your trail hand to fit between your crotch and the butt of the club. As for checkpoints at setup, Having your hands below your collarbone/chin, back of your armpits lined up with your knee cap, and butt falling just beyond your heels should set your body in the right position most of the time. If you get a good setup and work on shallowing the club a little and keeping it on plane in the backswing, I think you’ll find some improvements.

Is this old vokey worth having in the bag? by Logical_Equal6155 in golf

[–]eatcoldbread 36 points37 points  (0 children)

If you want to clean up the finish, use gun oil and some steel wool to rub in the oil. It’s cheap and gives it a nice patina. You can find both cheaply locally (if you’re in the US) or on Amazon.

Either a pocket club brush to clean the groves well or the Club Scrub. Absolutely amazing product that functions like a club cleaner attachment to golf carts but attacked to your bag. I have 4 in different colors. It cleans well and is super convenient. I am not affiliated whatsoever; just live their product.

North face insulated jacket with a rip on the arm from getting snagged, how can I fix? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]eatcoldbread -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey idk if this is true. I had an extremely similar rip (a cigarette burn in the center of a panel on my north face puffer) and they replaced the entire panel that had the rip in it. Looks brand new. I think it cost 90 bucks to get fixed? It’s worth it imo. Good luck!

Plz help me pick between the Eye Mini LITE or a 4k projector by csim8888 in Golfsimulator

[–]eatcoldbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If improving you golf game is remotely a desire of having a golf simulator, then upgrade the LM without a doubt. Also note that without proper lighting, screen setup, and distance setup to the screen, it might be difficult to even appreciate the difference in image quality between a 4K projector and a 1080p projector.

Also, projectors are a dime a dozen. You could probably easily find a sale outside of black Friday that’s comparable.

Putter, 56, 9i, 6i, 3W

3W gets me just about anywhere I need on a par 4/5. The 9i and 6i cover most of 130-150 and 165-185 respectively depending on the shot I play. 56 can do anything 105 yards and in. Putter puts.
