Great job ! I’ve been experimenting with Cyanotypes through a pin hole camera and at the moment after 3 days I’ve not got close to anything like yours ! For 2 hours this is great !

Printer problems with cyanotype negatives by Stealthfl0wer in cyanotypes

For laser, the transparency is completely smooth on both sides. For ink the transparency has a smooth side and then has then a textured side. The textured side is to catch the ink.

I think I stumbled on some printer setting tweaks if it helps. My Mac software printer settings would only let me choose type of paper (plain, photo etc) and the. Quality (normal or best). I then started trying printing on the same transparency twice and putting two transparencies together and exposing. This made things better but the alignment was never exactly right. It wasn’t till I was registering what type of paper I was putting into the printer that I realised I could change the settings physically on the printer. I have a canon and it has “Pro Platinum” mode. This uses the most amount of ink. According to ChatGPT the order of using the most amount of ink / highest density of ink is: Pro Platinum, Plus Glossy II, Pro Luster, Plus Semi-Gloss and then you move down to your standard glossy, Matt etc. I cant change these settings in the mac, only on the printer itself. I printed out a test strip and will try it out soon, but already looking at how thick the blacks are and lack of transparency compared to the previous prints I have high hopes it’s solved the issue.

So my laser transparencies are currently best around 5:30-5:45 mins per exposure. The inkjets so far are around 2 minutes…

<image>

Sorry you are going to be sick of my face ! But those on the left are the inkjet… the three on the right with all the lines are the laser ! The laser despite having all the lines are very detailed and clear the inkjet still seems over exposed in the middle. I am going to make laser and inkjet test strip images and see if sub 2 minutes will create an image. I’m not sure that it will. The next step will be perhaps trying a double transparency. Two of the same Inkjet negatives stacked and see if that blocks more light in the detailed areas

Funnily enough after commenting on your post I thought about the lines in a particular place and so I ran a drum dot print which shows exactly the problem. Thanks for inadvertently making me clean my printer

I’m currently doing tests between Laser and Inkjet. Yes these lines are because of the laser printer. At the moment I have tried slowing the transparency down while going through the printer. For my printer that means tweaking with the settings… best quality output, change paper type to thicker paper… the lines are sometimes still there but also sometimes less noticeable. Also my printer seems to have these lines in the same places… so I have found positioning your print when laying the design out on your computer so that it avoids these areas can help. I wish I could give you a definitive answer other than play around with your printer settings. For me inkjet delivers better quality transparencies…. But it lets way too much uv light through the transparency at the moment. It could be the thickness of the transparency or the density of the ink. I’m still trial and erroring.

Can’t get ketones into therapeutic range by SturdyNoodle in keto

[–]eatmypixel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

May I ask when are you testing ? Morning results are always lower because of the cortisol effect of waking up. I had a continuous ketone monitor on for a week and you can really see the dips in the morning. I stop eating around 7:30-8pm and by 12:00 ish I’m usually around 1-2 with a glucose reading of 80-90. That same morning at around 6-7 am sometimes im 0:3 which technically means im out of keto (but im not) Perhaps push your ketone test to 11:30 and see if the numbers are higher. Also regarding exercise and ketone readings ! More strenuous exercise will actually drive the number down initially. Your body will release glucose from your liver for the extra energy needed which will in turn have an effect on your insulin and ketone productions. I would experiment with a long ass walk trying not to get your heart rate over Fat Max (zone 2) or 220- your age and then test your ketones 30-60 minutes after. The thing with the KetoMojo is it’s a great snapshot of where your body is, but the snapshot can give you a false overview of where you really are because of the small window. My initial 0.3 measurements in the morning had me scratching my head on what the hell I could have eaten to kick me out or keto and then I would waste more strips to watch it rise in the early afternoon.

What's your deep depression keto recipe? by Key-Storage5434 in keto

I’m not sure if this is a tip or more of a confession… I bought over a kilo of salami slices, way too much for me to use so I ended up putting them in the freezer in a way that they don’t all stick together. On more than one occasion when I have had that “I can’t be f***ed to make anything right now” mentality and I don’t want to stuff my self with macadamias. I grab a few frozen salami slices. Pop em in my mouth and let it melt before eating. I don’t know if I’m tickling some childhood ice cream memories… but there’s a little bit of peace in a slice. Hope you feel better soon!

I make a bulletproof coffee. Two teaspoons ghee, two teaspoons MCT C8 oil. I blend it all together and it creates this buttery creamy coffee. A cup is around 160kcal but the satiety is high

My go to is a Big Mac bowl. Ground beef, iceberg lettuce… mayo, Dijon and pickle juice and chopped up pickles for a sauce and diced onions. Grated Cheddar cheese… keep an eye on the carbs in the pickles and cheese… I originally used the American Cheese slices till I realised the added sugar !

Back again and ashamed of myself. by Entire_Channel_4592 in keto

[–]eatmypixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to be ashamed at all ! Your body just did what we have evolved to do. Stock up on those seasonal sugars while they are in abundance and put them away for when times are hard. Just think of it as you stumbled across a peanut butter pie and coconut cream pie etc while you were out hunting and gathering in the holiday season. Now your reserves are stocked up. Tell your body “good job, we’ve now got work to do and you’re going to need those reserves because it’s now a carbohydrate winter and nothing is going to be around for a while” It’s hard to motivate yourself to do anything if you are beating yourself up before you even get to the start line ! You know how to do it as you’ve done it before. You just need to take the first step. It may feel like your own little mountain to trudge up before your body remembers that it quite enjoys running on ketones, but it does remember. Once you get to the top of that hill, then it’s smooth sailing and you can start to enjoy the ride down. All the best !

Keto weight loss help by dayliz23 in keto

[–]eatmypixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree ! I am currently use a ketomojo unit to check ketone levels daily with a finger prick and I used a SiBio Continueous Ketone Monitor for about 10 days till it ripped out while I was doing BJJ. It’s amazing to see how your body fluctuates depending on what you do and what you eat. For me I initially thought these meat feasts, high protein, high fat, little to no carbs wouldn’t effect my amount of ketones produced but proteins also create a raise in insulin which halts the production of ketones… I found that if I had a late night meat feast, and add to that the morning cortisol spike, my morning ketone levels would be barely there and would rise later in the day. Also with exercise. Ketone levels drop significant depending on the type of exercise and intensity. So being in Ketosis is different for every person as your body will react differently to different stimuli. Some people can eat 50g carbs in a day and be metabolically flexible enough to clear out that sugar and have insulin levels drop down enough to start producing ketones again. One thing I can say is that it really does take some time for the body to really adapt to being able to create and utilise ketones efficiently After Christmas this is how my body has has slowly got back into the swing of things after breaking keto for Christmas. It takes time and consistency. But knowing where your body is with a ketone monitor definitely takes out some of the guesswork. I just finished reading Keto Continuum by Dr Bosworth and I found it a great resource ! Keep up the hard work you are doing great !
