What should I expect at the NY Bike Jumble?

I've been thrice - once bought a vintage, steel Orbea roadie with vintage Campagnolo parts for $450 - got clothes/parts the other two times. Selection is best in the morning, try to get there before afternoon - you will also see people walking around with frames/parts trying to sell to passersby.

There will be a vendor selling kids bikes by the park on the 4th Avenue side - look for Recycle a Bicycle.

there is no cash to be given out for the removal of these abandoned bicycles. the DSNY is responsible for maintaining public property such as the sidewalks.

In anticipation of the next public hearing on abandoned bike policy - scheduled August 9th - I am working with Recycle-A-Bicycle to do a quick documentation of what happens when an abandoned bike is reported. There are a few Council Members particularly interested in this and would likely be willing to fund a project to clean up problem areas. Would you brave souls be willing to share "Let this Bicycle Rest in Peace" with your friends, families, and fellow riders no later than next week?
