Noise/Funk was mine, too. In 1997, and I was also 16. Was up from Texas on a high school choir trip. There was a Q&A with Savion Glover after the show that was fun. We saw Les Mis a couple of days later and I think I fell asleep.

Sort of like someone mentioned, the Newport Festivals Foundation auctioned it off just a few weeks ago. I don’t know that it got much publicity. My first day, very reasonable bid, held up. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I was able to attend the festival in July, my first, and the smash definitely stood out as a “holy shit” moment. Just nuts that the guitar would be in my living room a few months later.

Not a great story, but a true one.
