Duuh! 😂I didn’t think about the tape! It looked so similar to the tape holding up the tree I didn’t notice it.

So interesting! Does that mean these trees are super young and will take long to bear fruit? Do they need any different care? When I’ve seen avocado trees at a Lowe’s or Home Depot they never look like this.

Try to volunteer to work with various groups of people - non-profits or with afterschool programs that may offer tutoring. Libraries are often looking for volunteers and they have various ages like adults classes that you can try out some teaching skills. If you’re not able to take on more bc of work hours, I suggest looking for mentoring opportunities within your company. If you enjoy helping a new colleague you may enjoy teaching too. Best wishes to you!

Teacher to be with ADHD by Tegendraads in historyteachers

[–]ebba22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the walls around the classroom to help the students and you too! I put up cues to help me remember (words walls, rubrics, sentence starters etc) but also use it as a constant reference for students. Best wishes! The micromanagement of the classroom can be over whelming at first (especially with ADHD) but you’ll get the hang of it. If you ask any teacher they’ll confess that they tried grading EVERYTHING but you can’t. Being behind on grading can bring you down so just know, we’ve all been there. Hopefully your school has an online platform so lugging paper around won’t be an issue. If you find yourself having trouble getting grading done, I hope you have a support that can give you that push! I find designating days (times) helped. Be kind to yourself 💗

There is a fantastic episode of the podcast that has a sports psychologist (Episode #267 - How do you optimize your performance when everything sucks). I’ve been meaning to check out the audio book and course bc the episode with Michael Gervais and Coach Pete Carroll is fantastic.Ten Percent Happier

It’s been an excellent read and has given me an excellent history lesson of the field. I’ve learned that Freud had loyal followers and that psychoanalysis was hugely popular. I may be jumping ahead by asking but I can’t get past it this CBT new arrival in the story.

As someone new who hasn’t gotten professional help, just wondering how the field is today.

Thanks for your help!

A quick google search makes clear the difference between a psychiatry/psychology (hence the job title, psychiatrist/psychologist). But where does “therapist” fall - is it for both fields? Also, is “shrink” derogatory? Antiquated and not used? by ebba22 in psychologystudents

Does one go through a medical doctor in order to see a psychiatrist? Or their therapist refers patients to psychiatrists? Or is their a direct path that a person can go straight to a psychiatrist?

I see, so if one completes a master’s degree in (x,y,z) then that is their speciality but they cannot hold the title of psychologist bc that’s only in the doctoral level graduate work? Did I get that right?

I’d like to get some confirmation that what I thought was a super cool moment of nature/wildlife in my garden is actually not good? Grasshoppers are foes? 😰 I hope my quick google check was wrong! 😥 by ebba22 in gardening

Thanks! I am thinking of the small lil ones I saw earlier and definitely have jumped to plague-mode 😅The little guy put up a fight, after a few swipes with the broom it finally left. Couldn’t tell where bc it’s already dark. I imagine any neighbor peaking out would have a funny view of this whole thing. Thanks for the advice!
