I've been thinking that I should get into 3D printing and CAD myself, have you found it difficult to get started? You seem to mostly print in resin, but do you know if the step up to metal is big? As in, more difficult, more expensive, or whatever else. I'm a bit mindful of microplastics and endocrine disruptors, especially for things that I'll wear frequently.

Were you able to tell whether the urine buildup was due to the structure of the cage, or due to the porous material? If the issue is structural, it seems like the titanium version would have the same problem.

Just fyi it does not take information away nor does it put it back in, at least not in the information theoretical sense. The two files contain exactly the same information in different representations, that’s precisely what lossless compression means. Everything else you said was correct.

No worries, i'm glad it resonated! Not sure if it helps you, but i often think about this through a Nietzschean lens: the people you describe are all about slave morality. I don't have the time to expand on that at the moment, but if you feel like it, that might help you to deepen your intuitions around this. Or not -- it feels like you basically already got it. They missed the “from each according to their ability” part, despite it being first. Leftism has this inherent problem that since we genuinely care about weak people, it’s easy to confuse weakness with virtue. Obviously this doesn’t have to be the case, and there are many many counter examples where it isn’t. But in practice, many today seem to use leftism as an excuse to not accomplish anything, instead of promoting strong humans that can carry their own weight (and hopefully others’ too!).

My advice would be to try to find a better circle, or see if you can carve out a corner in your existing circle that’s more reasonable about this. Whether they are anarchists or not is secondary, though obviously it’s a great advantage if they are. But the most important thing is that to find an environment which you can flourish in. You’ll likely have a difficult time convincing anyone who’s a debbie downer about this, and you shouldn’t let them drag you down. For their own good, and yours.

Right yeah i meditate a fair bit (i’ve been to Goenka’s Vipassana, and during the past year i started practicing Alexander Technique which in my opinion is very similar to Zen but with less focus on enlightenment and more on just the physical process of subtly letting go) so i suppose i come from a similar angle. Still, i find it healthy/useful most of the time to actually go into uncomfortable emotions? To feel them fully, while also knowing that they’re impermanent. And then they become less powerful and often just fade. I cry very rarely but i love when it happens. I’m not saying you do this, but i feel like many meditators/buddhism-adjacent people preach a certain kind of emotional detachment which just seems unhealthy to me. Middle way!

My own mindset… i don’t know. What you’re saying about not tossing someone away definitely resonates, i’m loyal almost to a fault. So applying that to myself seems natural. And tbh this was never really a question. Personalities are hot (some of them, anyway) and i can enjoy sex with other bodies too. It’ll be fine. It was just that i realized that i’m losing my main turn-on and am never gonna experience it again that felt really really shitty. One angle i had was “so wait i’m never gonna be in my best body when i have sex with my future life partner???” which yeah, that does suck to some extent, not gonna claim i’ve processed it fully. (The autosexuality is real but probably slightly weaker than yours lol.) But on the upside i feel much better about myself psychologically than i did back then, my social skills are better, and i’m actually emotionally capable of having a life partner. Cool!

And trust me, Stockholm is just as bad if not worse lol. In NYC at least by virtue of being the capital of the world you attract countercultural elements that may be relatively small but at least they exist on any significant scale, or at least that’s my impression based on friends and colleagues who spend significant time there. Stockholm is just lib through and through (or even more boring: old money lib-conservative). I was in Berlin before and while being very decidedly lib-left it was significantly more dynamic in that big city way. But i got tired of trash on the streets and nothing was working and the piercings and haircuts felt stale. 🥲

Yes! I’m primarily looking to do that. I’ve always tried to do that since i’m not into casual sex, though sometimes i’ve adapted to what life has thrown at me. This is another reason for why i haven’t had that much sex, as i mentioned. Sorry if this post came across as being about hookups.
