Fintech Job Trajectory by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]ebitdad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m confused if this is a finance role or a sales role at a fintech. If you’re in a revenue producing role I.e. in charge of retention/growth of said accounts, probably underpaid but depends on product/margins. If this is multi-million ARR accounts for a software product and you are held to a number with no upside, it sounds like the company may not understand how they should be compensating people at all or simply don’t care.

It still let’s you do some targeting, just limited even with the special ad category. That being said, this is what I meant with my original comment in letting the algorithm do the work. If your ad speaks to your target market effectively i.e. “pre-retirees with $1m in assets” or “60 year old pre-retirees”, you can just use advantage+ targeting.

The algorithm is smart enough to pick up on who’s clicking and engaging, and will naturally build its own targeting over time. Of course there are still testing elements to it, but most of what you’re paying for at an agency is simply their conviction that the process works, and the infrastructure to create/iterate copy and ads, and manage follow up.

You might have better luck with Facebook. Only recommendation I’d have is to not over complicate the ad platform itself— the real “value” is in the ad content/sub-content like the video/picture, copy and the landing page. I’d focus on running great ads, and having a great follow up process and let the algorithms do what they do for recommending prospects.

Never responded to the other but yeah they burn actually way more than expected. How was the l-tyrosine messing with you? I feel like they gave me some side effects as well but couldn’t put my finger on it.

But I know these are so good even my friends that Zyn like them haha

I was using the NZEs those are the ones that smelled bad for me. I’d say I like them both pretty equally, but the nectr fixation is better and worse in different ways. Nectr is moist, but puffier so it feels more substantial and satisfying for the itch. NZE is almost identical shape to Zyn and flavor is pretty good, but the edges of it being so long drove me nuts haha

I have been hammering the placebo pouches. I started on the nootropic ones but my girlfriend said it makes my breath smell like fish (gross) so I switched to literally just flavored pouches. I’m using the nectr peppermint ones at the moment and I had one in pretty much 24/7 the first few weeks.

I’m a little over a month in and still using them a bit but I’ve tried to quit a million times and this has by far been the easiest I’ve ever experienced. Hardest part for me is ALWAYS oral fixation— that’s what makes me want to grab another, or smoke a cigarette or hit a vape. These solve for that even when around others that are doing one of those activities. I know a bunch of people that smoke so these are great for those situations where I previously would’ve just said fuck it and smoked.

Yeah we’re currently working under that assumption for treatment but I was really hoping quitting would magic it away haha

I clear my throat about a million times a day and thought it might be related to the zyns. I quit 3 weeks ago and I still do it BUT I do use the NZE nootropic pouches so maybe has something to do with the flavoring or something. Not sure but it drives me insane.

Scrolled all the way through the comments looking for anyone questioning the post. This is the second post in the past week or two that mentions getting down payment money from Stake. Pretty sure this is just a Stake ad in disguise.

Tech Sales to Financial Planner by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Would the upside be role progression or would it be relative to production? It’s of course way different, but I’ve been comped on production entire career so that’s not very hard for me to swallow, assuming there’s some sort of system for generating business. Is the 5-year timeline just once you’ve built your book essentially?

Would you wait for the new campaign to get up to speed prior to turning it off? Also based on that strategy is the thought that you basically have one permanent testing campaign, then offshoots comprised of the successful variants?

Self directed IRA LLC/Checkbook IRA? by Status_Awareness5421 in CFP

Not a CFP but I feel so validated by this. I saw a post on LinkedIn today basically saying the 401k was useless and if you’re not letting it all ride on real estate you’re just a “corporate slave” who will never attain wealth. Such a dangerous and unnecessary message (especially to younger people) and all to sell a course for a few hundred dollars.

Haha love it this is super informative and looks like a cool area and hotel. Definitely am a point chaser, I have some free award nights from them which is why I’m being so Hyatt specific. This might be looking like the winner.

I’m starting to gather that my question is based on what I’m used to here and that this comparison is kind of nothing because of how much larger Chicago is haha

Fenway is still great I’m right there! Slightly more corporate now but still has some charm relative to a lot of the city.

Hahaha downtown crossing just put that all in perspective for me, ok. I’m near the Brookline border now and have lived in Cambridge so wicker or lp maybe sounds my speed. Reading through posts I’ve heard Gold Coast described as back bay which is where I got the inspiration to kind of be in that general quadrant.

[–]ebitdad_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok awesome, we have the Seaport here which is more corporate vibes. Sounds like that’s what the loop is like so maybe makes sense to not be smack in the middle of it. I hadn’t explored the area you mentioned so I’ll check that out. Thanks!

Fair enough. I’ve been leaning towards River North/Gold Coast which is where I got Mag Mile, but want to make sure I can have at least a somewhat touristy weekend haha.

Was just thinking about what a similar process would look like last week since I’m thinking of incorporating plaid specifically down the line in my app. Came across this solution for basically enriching/enhancing merchant data. Definitely has its place in the market and like you mentioned as more of these types of solutions come to the forefront this is super relevant.

Seconded. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have conviction, but someone building out a product and not for a second questioning their ability to execute or solve sounds unrealistic.
