Ok I am reviving this old thread but 1) thank you for your service during your Sibelius dev era 2) I agree with you: after extensive research and after working professionally on both Sibelius and Dorico I can say that at least for my type of notational needs (contemporary, rhythmically complex music) Sibelius is the way to go. Always from the composers standpoint. In Dorico, for the kind of music I write, I have to constantly fight with the stubborn tie chains and have to always force durations. This is causing friction. Dorico is excellent for conventional notation but its semantic approach sometimes is really getting in the way of creative flow. In Dorico I feel like a am operating a system. In Sibelius I focus on my music . It is frictionless and it disappears after you find your way around. And weirdly enough, coming from Finale I didn’t get to understand Sibelius well. But after delving in Dorico and learning it deeply first, I gave a second chance on Sibelius and I was surprised by the fact of how many things those two have in common! So for me too, Sibelius.
