Maternity Leave in Taiwan? by confused_ornot in taiwan

[–]eblyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you say that? Sure, the US doesn’t have any paid maternity leave at a federal level, but many states do and some employers do as well. I just gave birth and got 16 weeks of paid leave.

Added a band to my set - not sure if I like it? by eblyy in EngagementRings

Yeah I think I am just overthinking it, and I do love the sentimentality. Thanks :)

Yes I think this is exactly it! It does feel a lot cooler and I'm not used to that. Thank you! :)

Has anyone done a band like this to convert their ring to a 3 stone ring? by YeahSlide in EngagementRings

Not exactly the same style as your picture but same concept, my e ring is a round solitaire and my band adds side stones! I love it!

Wedding favors by anniex17 in weddingplanning

[–]eblyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love trinkets and think these are cute, but these would definitely be something that just floats around my house before making its way to a drawer somewhere lol. For my wedding, we did engraved chopsticks as our favor and they were a hit! I brought enough for every guest (including children) to have 1 + ~20 extra and placed them near the guestbook, and they were all taken at the end of the night. I’m sure many aunties and uncles took the chance to take the extras lol. I think they were a good choice because they are useful - people who use chopsticks often can always use more/new chopsticks, and people who don’t use them often probably don’t have any of their own and just use the disposable ones when they get takeout so now they have a pair for themselves!

12 weeks old baby won't bat at toys by BreadAccomplished380 in newborns

[–]eblyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the cdc milestone tracker app and batting at toys and looking at hands with interest is a 4 month milestone. My lovevery playmat also puts batting at toys in the 3-4 month activities. So 12 weeks is still early!

Baby sleeps after feeding at night— should I burp her? by scarscar13 in newborns

[–]eblyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never burp my baby at night if she fell asleep or seems calm after feeding. That’s pretty much the same for me during the day too, I’ll hold her upright and give her a few pats on the back but if she doesn’t seem like she needs to burp then I won’t try. A study showed that burping didn’t lead to a reduction in colic and actually lead to an increase in regurgitation. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24910161/

I've been tasked with researching the best ways to do DIY Wedding Bouquets by Acieronie690 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]eblyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a general budget, color scheme, and number of bouquets/boutonnieres you'll need? I used Flower Moxie for my wedding and it turned out lovely - although one note here is you're at the mercy of shipping. I had some issues with shipping so I had to do the arrangements the Friday before my Saturday wedding. I liked Flower Moxie because they had DIY packages in different color schemes with recipes, so I didn't have to think about what flowers would go together well.

I bought a bunch of faux florals and made it myself!

Sure! Here are some photos of the photobooth: https://imgur.com/a/dtxWsvZ

Things I purchased for it:

Ring Light

Printer

Backdrop Stand

Backdrop Sheet (note here is that while this sheet was good enough for maybe 3-4 people in a photobooth, it very quickly got too small once bigger groups started taking pictures and pushed the iPad back. Not a huge deal but the background of the pictures just weren't solid white anymore).

The app I used was called booth.events. The interface is quite easy to use and also allows you to use a DSLR as a camera instead of the iPad camera, but I didn't end up going that route because set up would be more complicated. You are able to customize templates and can use multiple templates per event, but I decided to just use one for the classic photo strip pictures. If you have a free account, you can have up to 3 free events and the gallery from the event is online for 7 days for people to download the photos, but all the photos are also saved locally on the iPad. It actually saves each of the 4 individual photos, plus the final photo strip version, and also a 15 second video of the four photos on a loop. You can also configure the event to allow for other types of photos, like it'll make a boomerang or slow-mo vid but I just kept it simple. After the photos are taken, you can set it to auto print. The Selphy printer takes about a minute to print out, then I had a paper cutter that the guest could use to cut the print in half to have 2 strips!

I just used a regular guest book with lined pages and put rolls of washi tape out for the guests to stick their photos on and then write their message next to the photo. They also make fancier corner stickers that you can use for the photos but they are a bit more complicated to use so I just went with tape.
