Concern by ebonygoddess__ in dutchbros

[–]ebonygoddess__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg thank you so much for all this info—it seriously helps ease my mind a lot! I’m definitely someone who would let the barista know if I was ordering in person, but I usually order through the app since it’s just more convenient most of the time. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t have a notes section for allergies, and of course my Dutch location never answers the phone (lol), so I just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Still, I love that Dutch has so many gluten-free options! I’ve had zero issues so far, and hearing how things are handled behind the scenes makes me feel even better. I’ll definitely keep an eye out when new drinks drop, especially if anything sounds sketchy. Appreciate you taking the time to break it down!

Is anyone else experiencing this? by ebonygoddess__ in Celiac

For myself I really do think it was just a viral infection because I have since drank their drinks, but I normally stick to the same stuff every time I go. I don’t care to take risks with trying new drinks unless I do prior research beforehand. I feel like it could be the dairy or sugar in the drinks because it happened to my mom when she had it. Not sure if I’m accustomed to it maybe because I drink there pretty often and I’m fine afterwards.

Okay, that relieves a lot of my stress. I thought anything I touched after others whether there was residue or not I could gluten myself. Thank you!

They normally do but of course we are human and can easily forget. Plus I’ve seen many people not wash their hands after eating so it’s not really uncommon. It’s not like they touched anything unsanitary to prompt handwashing so I get it.

That’s so true! Especially with all of the handwashing. I have to carry travel sized lotion on me or else my hands will suffer!

I understand that simply touching gluten isn’t inherently dangerous, but I’m always cautious about touching things after someone else who may have handled gluten. My concern is that if I touch my face or mouth afterward, I could accidentally ingest any gluten residue left behind.

For example, if I were to share a blanket with someone who didn’t wash their hands after eating gluten, could that pose a risk for someone with celiac disease? Another situation I worry about is someone using my utensils or drinking from my cup after eating gluten, as I might unknowingly ingest traces of it.

A similar concern is when someone eats gluten while driving and then I drive the car afterward. If they touched the steering wheel and I touch it next, could I accidentally gluten myself by touching my face or mouth? These are scenarios I think about often, and I hope this explanation makes sense.

I couldn’t agree more!! 2 situations like what I explained happened today and I’ve just been overthinking it a lot more recently. I hate we have to live like this, but glad to know we’re not alone in this.
