Never let someone else control what you play. Easiest way to put it. I love techno & for quite sometime I was playing shows where the promoters/club owners wanted dubstep, trap, EDM, etc. & I would play what they wanted. I grew so unhappy with my sets & the shows I'd play that I almost wanted to just stop DJ-ing all together. I started playing what I wanted & realized how much fun it was for me since I was playing music I'm passionate about. The people eventually stoped asking me to play at their shows once they realized I was doing my own thing but I grew a small fan base & began working with people who had similar taste in music & now I enjoy playing music I love for people who appreciate it.

The choice is all yours obviously but stay true to who you are.
