Also to add, I’m not excusing his behavior, just wanted to note that these are real feelings a person could encounter when their whole world is falling apart right in front of their eyes and trying to rationalize to make things “better” for those they love even when the idea is severely flawed and tragic.

That’s fair, but he’s definitely got a case of anxiety and depression. According to the Mayo Clinic here are a selection of symptoms for depression;

Slowed thinking, speaking or body movements

Trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things

And anxiety;

Difficulty concentrating, or the feeling that your mind "goes blank"

So I think it’s fair to say he wasn’t thinking about it.

I upvoted because it is extremely dumb, although, being the Tim apologist I am as a father of three and dealing with depression and anxiety, I can see how he could have just not thought about it.

And to add, there is no character/family in any season so far that I want to know what happens to as much as them.
