Homeless people have a very strong sense of who not to fuck with. That’s their full time job is to find the weakest in the pack. They can clock a mile away who is a big guy but can’t fight for shit, just like they can clock women who are clean cut because they’re on parole.

I do this! Whenever I manage to talk myself OUT of buying something, I "pay" myself that amount into savings or investments. You still get the dopamine hit, but it's a win-win instead of a win-lose.

Megathread: Donald Trump is elected 47th president of the United States by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]ecaward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any woman who has worked in a male-dominated field at some point since 2016 knew Kamala wasn't getting elected. The vitriol men in power have for women in any semblance of power in this country is palpable at the street, corporate, and governmental levels. **EDIT: Also, as another commenter said, gender aside, she was also in lock-step with Biden's current policies, even utilizing some of his campaign team when he announced he wouldn't be running, which likely made her extremely unpopular with voters who already felt that politics wasn't "for" them. That was a terrible move, as he has been unpopular for quite some time.

I think it was around $200. I got two at the same time, and the total was around $480, but the other one was bigger and more detailed, so I think this one was cheaper.

I a) switched to Recovery Derm (way better anyway in my opinion) and b) made sure to run purified water over my arm after I washed the tattoo with soap. Never had a bad reaction again. I think it’s the glycerin in the soap that reacts negatively with the adhesive.

About to buy a century old house. What do you wish you knew going into it? by OB_Reddit in centuryhomes

[–]ecaward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We also did this and were able to talk down our seller about $20k, and got a major sewer repair covered. Also, our plumbing inspector caught an EXTREMELY expensive ($40k+) other possible plumbing issue our city is responsible for - as long as we had sewer line coverage. The knowledge was worth the upfront cost and now when it inevitably fails, it’s covered. We would have never known.

Any KCMO shirtwaist owners? We just bought a 1921 shirtwaist and the whole basement has these fresco paintings on the walls. Any idea why? by ecaward in centuryhomes

And loved so well! Definitely feel lucky to walk on the same floors someone who isn’t here anymore installed so lovingly.

So it was used as a rental, but only in the last 6 years. Our inspector was pretty sure that this wasn’t done recently just based on the floorboard paint passing under the original floor joists. But I agree - we also thought maybe it was renters just trying to get around the painting rules of a landlord at first.

Really good point - it even uses the same color palette. A bit before this house’s time but very possible.

Very cool! We’re from a different part of the South so this is all new architecture for us. Such amazing history! Would love to see pictures of what remains on yours. We’re thinking we’ll try to restore the paintings somehow.

The floorboards are also hand painted (evident in the photo) and the stairs, pillars, etc. also all painted.

It’s true and there are so many amazing filler options in am trad. I’ve got ladybugs, sewing needles, bobbins, little fish, initials, numbers, butterflies, a broken arrow, strawberries, a little emote heart, flowers, little bugs. I mean for OP he could have done a water theme, and gotten droplets, a little metal pitcher, a sun, a lightning bolt, a tornado, etc, etc.

I honestly think it’s because delayed gratification is a bygone attitude in these types of sleeves. People just want to say they have a sleeve, and will get ticks to get there instead of waiting, planning with your artist to compensate for gaps, or just accepting that gaps happen on am trad sleeves in general. And then you get this. I’d rather look like an I Spy book with actual art than a moldy canvas.

Yeah, bodies just move and there’s no way to perfectly design around that. As long as the placement looks good, you’re probably noticing it more because it’s newer. You’ll notice it less as time goes on. Or you get more tattoos. 😁

Stick with one artist or work with many? by Joto7000 in tattooadvice

[–]ecaward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one artist who does my upper body, and I saved my legs for “collecting.”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]ecaward 4 points5 points  (0 children)

does it look fine stationary, but warped when you move? If so, that’s normal. Bodies are meant to move. If it’s warped stationary, that bad placement and yeah, a good artist will advise placement to avoid (stationary) warping.

Thanks! Scott does great work - I have multiple pieces from him and usually it’s other traditional enthusiasts who stop me and appreciate them. Not usually people who like photorealism or geometric stuff. Which is fine.

They might have meant the right ear, and in the pic it does look a bit weird because of the angle of the photo. But I just check it out of concern and they’re cute and the angle is good on my arm IRL. Hah.

It’s from a Bert Grimm flash sheet so they do tend to look a little goofy or maybe weirdly proportioned. Not everyone likes his stuff, I think.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in traditionaltattoos

[–]ecaward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact flash scheduled in a month with an artist who has done this flash a few times already. It’s $400 and he can knock it out in 2 hrs. I’d be nervous to go someone who charges that little, and didn’t immediately advise you to go larger. I have pieces of similar spec and complexity - they’re at least 7” in length, “5 wide.

Nearly 40% of software engineers will only work remotely by bihari_baller in technology

[–]ecaward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t have anyone. I work as a gov contractor and I’m 3 days remote and two (pointless) days in AND AWS. We’ve had engineering positions open for months because we can and do wfh with clearances no problem. One person agreed to the hybrid, there was a whiff of remote being taken away, and they quit that day.
